Explain how he's a star.

He's definitely a top LB in this league. Was a pro-bowler and an 2nd team all pro last season. Every single move the Patriots have made this off-season, you've said is a bad one. Laughing You're not even worth responding to.

Explain how he's not a star? Because he doesn't make a ton of flashy plays? Guys made two of the biggest plays in the last two SB's the Patriots have played in. Literally the only knock on Hightower is his durability.

And Art_Vandalay, yes wake me up (and sit Gronk till) January.
So he's had one good year (with undeserved awards) after 4 years of mediocrity...star LB for sure.

You really hate the Patriots. At an unhealthy level.
I don't. BB da GOAT coach. Seems like a bad person, though.
Blount also one of the toughest dudes to ever play the game.
Chung one of the best tacklers the game has ever seen.
Brandy is one of the top QBs in the game. Bad person, though.

You know how you know you are a bad person? When you call other people "bad persons" without actually knowing said people.

Not the 10+ years of fighting with strangers on the internet and general trolling about a game that all of us love?

Hightower apparently took a hometown discount:

Quote:
With that in mind, we’ve learned today that Dont’a Hightower‘s four-year, $43.5MM deal is actually worth less than that (via Albert Breer of The MMQB on Twitter). The true base value of the deal is $32MM. In each season, there are $875K worth of per-game roster bonuses, so $3.5MM of the deal will be contingent on Hightower’s health. Then, to satisfy the remaining $8MM gap and reach the full $43.5MM, Hightower would have to nail all of his playtime, Pro Bowl, and First-Team All-Pro incentives each year.

After word of sincere interest from the Jets and Steelers, it sounds like Hightower took a hometown discount to remain with the Patriots. Hightower entered March with hopes of fetching $12MM per year or more. Instead, he has a deal that is really worth somewhere between $8MM-$9MM on average with the potential to exceed $10MM, but only if he is recognized by the league as a megastar.

How do Bill and Tom seem like bad people?

One of the most ludicrous things ever said on this site

Maybe not bad people but they show remarkably poor judgment in matters not related to football.

Decent deal. Will probably be CJ Mosley's starting point in a year or two.

Same for Shazier.

I knew the chances were slim to pry him away from NE but the thought of a LB corp looking like: Dupree--Shazier--Hightower--Harrison/1st Rounder was intriguing.
Not to nitpick, but if the Steelers acquired Hightower wouldn't it have made more sense for them to take a safety in round 1?

Safety is not a top priority for us. If we found the right guy, maybe, but OLB is most important need right now. Hightower would play the Buck in our system. He'd might be used to pass rush inside at times but not so much as an outside guy.
