The #Panthers gave WR Russell Shepard a 3-year deal worth $10M with $2.1M guaranteed, source said. The max is nearly $13M.

Not sure what to think of this one.

One of the first times I literally asked myself "who?" regarding an NFL player. lol

I'm a HUGE Shep fan, it doesn't make any sense anymore, sure, he hasn't done jack in the NFL but I'm still holding out hope.

Eh, if nothing else he's already an excellent ST piece. He flashed a couple of times at receiver last year too. Dude's a really hard worker, it wouldn't shock me if he turned himself into a decent receiving option.

I mean there are worse ways to spend 10 million.

I like him athletically. I can't say I've seen how he flashed because I just flat out haven't seen him.

All the stories about his work ethic were what sold me when he came out as a UDFA, whatever damn year that was.

It's not often you're upset that you're fourth WR signed somewhere else. But this is that time.

He flashed a few times last year as our number two after injuries pushed him farther and farther up the depth chart. And he's one of the best gunners in the league.

I'm glad he got paid. Sucks it's with Carolina.

He's weird.

Last year he showed up to some games like a true elite #1 receiver and made pathetic grabs. Then other games he would get locked up by scrub corners and be invisible all game and drop easy balls.

Why is this man a notable NFL player of all a sudden? As an LSU fan I'm struggling to remember plays where he really did something, in college, or in the pros. I'm glad for him though if he's got it together now.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure why we paid him that much. I've heard of him, but not for any reason I can remember. I assume he's a decent special teams player with some potential as a WR?

Seems like an awful lot for that type of player, but then again, we did make Ted Ginn into a productive WR.

He was such a big time recruit, I remember OSU fans swearing he was their next great QB.

I don't recall him being a big potential guy when he was an UDFA for the Eagles. He was a scrappy move the chains kind of guy. We liked him but didn't have room for him. Can't say I'm super bummed out about that decision, though he probably would have helped last season.
