Again, those are 2 separate deals. Miami will host Julius Thomas tomorrow, he will take a physical in contemplation of the trade.

Love it both ways.

As I've said, I sort of wanted to see Thomas under new coaching but ultimately he just looked disinterested and horribly out of shape/slow last year. Just doesn't seem like an ideal guy for our locker room with that type of attitude. Plus, with how this draft looks TE is going to be very deep. Could add a potential high end TE in rd 2 or possibly 3. Drop some cap with moving Thomas to bring on Albert.

As for bringing in Albert, he's a 32 yr old vet that is very solid when healthy. Key word is when healthy, but for a 7th rd pick who the hell cares. I just hope we bring in some solid depth/have options for him when he misses at least a few games this upcoming season.

Odrick/Thomas/Beachum out the door, couple others possibly to follow with the addition of Albert and a TON of cap space. I'm very interested to see what we do. Zeitler/Warford at OG (not HUGE on Warford but he'd be a solid get), JPP/Ingram type at DE, see if we can nab Bouye and if not bring back Prince, etc.

Albert just had a conference call with the media. Sounds pretty excited about this opportunity. Apparently Coughlin LOVES Albert and has for a number of years.

$8.8M this year, $9.5M next year for Albert according to Jaguars today.

Not bad at all. You guys see what Matt Kalil and Russell Okung got? I prefer Albert over them easily.

?

What are you expecting for a starting LT? Albert when healthy is a very solid LT. He was getting more than that on the open market by far. Matt Kalil who is a below average LT coming off an injury just got paid 10-12M per long term with far more guarantees.

Okung is trash and that contract is even worse.

Yeah. It's not bad at all in that respect.

But it doesn't really mean a lot if he spends most of the year not playing. So hopefully he can stay healthy...which has obviously been a real struggle for him.

That's the thing, I'm not sure it matters how "cheap" it is if he only plays half our games

Maybe there will be a backup who is actually as good or better, and even cheaper!!!

Competent backups? What do you think we are, the Patriots?

No kidding, we can hardly find any competent starters, backups are a luxury we can't afford...even with 100M in cap space Laughing

Looks like Albert thought it was too much of a bargain and is holding out for more.
