My only concern about Winters is injury history. He had a knee injury a few years back, then this year got concussed when he headbutted Michael Bennett, and then missed the rest of the season with that shoulder injury. He has steadily improved, I just hope he's able to stay healthy.

A part that people are leaving out of this, is that Winters has never had a good RT next to him. Shell now will be beside him which in turn will make Winters better. Shell really emerged those last few games. If we can find a really good LT both sides of our line will be very good.

Art Shell is Brandon Shell uncle if Brandon is half as good as his uncle we will be in great shape. Brandon is a massive man and is not fat. He has the perfect body to play RT. If he works out it would be a great start to rebuilding the O Line. Left tackle is a different story, with a weak class in the 2017 draft, I have no idea what Macc is going to do.

I just wanted to bump this up and see what you guys think about us signing Brian Winters after most of the Guards have signed.

I think it is looking like a lot better deal than most of us thought. Some of these Guards are getting some crazy money over 10 mill a year.

I think this was a great move. I liked the move before FA started but now I like it even more.

I never thought the deal was that bad bc Winters has shown he's trending up not down. But to defend the other side of things... the Guards getting more money are better than Winters so it's not apples to apples. Winters is the 16ty highest paid Guard in the NFL. That's about what he should be at his age.

Its not a great contract and we can certainly do better than him at RG, however money isn't an issue right now and when it is and we are in need of it to spend, odds are we will already have a better, younger, cheaper player ready to replace him. He'll make his money for 2 years and than well probably go young and cheap with more upside.
