9 March is the start of the new League year. It's also the deadline to tender RFAs. The Chiefs have three of them: Santos, Wilson, and Sorensen.

Here are the official restricted free agent tender values for 2017:

1st round: $3.91M
2nd round: $2.746M
Low/original round: $1.797M

That money is NOT guaranteed upon signing the tender.

I'm not too worried about Wilson. The team is deep enough to let him walk.
Santos - may be a low tender. They may be able to find another guy ... Smile

Who I am worried about is Sorensen. A 2nd round tender should be it - unless they can sign him to a longer term contract.

I agree that Sorenson should get a 2nd round tender. Wilson should be allowed to walk or given a small, non-guaranteed contract. I prefer we draft someone to take his spot.

Santos should get tendered. I personally wouldn't be mad with a 2nd round tender just because of how hard it is to find a good kicker. I expect a lower one though.

Sorensen 2nd roundtender
Santos low tender

No word on Wilson.

Per roto:

Quote:
Chiefs tendered restricted free agent Albert Wilson at the original-round level.
The tender will be worth $1.797 million. Originally an undrafted free agent, the Chiefs will get nothing in return if they decline to match an offer sheet, but it seems unlikely Wilson generates much interest. Wilson has 82 catches for 990 yards and four touchdowns in three seasons with the Chiefs.

Way too expensive for my liking.

I have to agree. It's amazing what Hill has done to the WR corps. Wilson is a useful bit part.

So obviously the Chiefs signed Sorensen to a 4-year deal worth 16 M$ plus 2 M$ in incentives. I fully approve that signing.

He improved a lot, and if that trend continues its a bargain.

I hope this doesn't deter us from taking one of the top safeties in a good class if we have the chance. I'm happy for Sorenson but not nearly as high on him as others are.

I think CB is a bigger need than safety.

I think both are needs. So if value is there don't want us to pass on a top S. Parker too inconsistent for my liking and Sorenson too limited athletically. And with the way we use multiple safeties if we have a shot at a playmaking S I'm for it.

I think we're fine at safety

We've got Berry, Parker, Sorenson and Murray...do we need a 5th that badly?

If anything I'd rather focus on corner insurance just in case Mitchell pulls a Cooper on us.

Like I said imo i'm just not high on Parker or Sorenson and would be looking for a player who could be more than they are and murray has proven nothing.

Parker just too inconsistent for a starting Safety to me and i'm just not as high on Sorenson as others still viewing him as a ST guy with a limited role on D>
