It's been that way forever. We lost Faneca and only got a 5th. No point in complaining.
They must have changed the formula. Faneca got 5yr/40M. Should have gotten a 3rd based on that but I think it's the cumulative contracts gain/lost that they base it on. (don't remember all the rest of those)
It's age. I remember back then they explained it by saying players over 30 could only get a 5th.
it wasnt an age thing it was a years tendered with 1 team. it was a little known clause in the compensation pics that had any player with over 10 years of service to 1 team maxed at a 5th round pick. _________________
What was his injury last season that forced him to miss 5 games?
Based on this I don't know how he could have only been worth a fifth.
Well, first off, comp picks for next year havent even been determined yet. Not sure where youre getting a fifth rounder at this point (although thats about what Im expecting).
In regards to the criteria....
Compensatory free agents are determined by a secret formula based on salary,
His contract isnt that big.
He hasnt logged a single snap of playing time with the Dolphins yet.
and postseason honors.
Again, he hasnt played a down yet outside of a Steelers uniform.
That all being said, outside of salary, nothing can be determined yet. BASED on the salary, a fifth seems about right....maybe we will get a 4th if he stays healthy and starts all year for them. 3rd perhaps if he makes the pro bowl.
I read on Steelers Depot that we're only getting a 5th for this. I should have read the article as it covers what you said. _________________ Feel the Burns!
