That secondary group desperately needed some experience adding to it, plus he had six picks last season - two less than the Bears... and in only 13 games. Don't mind this signing but still need to add someone else at safety. _________________ 2016 Adopt-a-Bear: WR #13 Kevin White

CB: Porter
CB: Hall
FS: Demps
SS: Amos
Still terrible.
Pay more and get a player that you can develop into something. This is a bandaid for a team that needs long term solutions. _________________ John Fox

Do you think it signals that the Bears are all in on adding high pick safetie(s) via the draft or perhaps another vet and have two new vets back there for 2017? |

Yup. Makes me think Adams/Hooker in the first, possibly in a trade down, corner in round 2 or 3, and we likely are drafting a WR somewhere high too. _________________

Fuller is going to be healthy and in a contract year. Sorry Deiondre but you'll be back on the bench.. until Porter gets hurt for the 400th time. |

Fuller's not very good and doesn't seem to be liked much by his defensive coordinator. I'd put the odds on Hall starting at CB2. I still think they'll push for a free agent to start at the other spot. |

I am thinking I had the right idea but the wrong stop gap in my middle of the night mock. Given the posture thus far we'd almost have to be looking to draft one safety to start now and one to start next year.
That said, Demps at least generates takeaways. He's a short termer, but an upgrade nonetheless. Every signing can't be a home run. Unfortunately to this point this is the closest we have to one though... _________________

Surprisingly I like this pick...Demps isn't a world beater but he is experienced and in what will be a very young secondary next season we need that type of leadership...if he still has his speed he will be what Antrel Rolle was supposed to be. _________________ Adopt-a-Bear...Adrian Amos |

Yeah. Me too. He's too good to be just veteran backup help and not good enough or young enough to be a difference maker down the road.
Safety at one. Now the question is whether or not Glennon is holding a spot for a trade back up into the first QB or one or two 3-5th rounder QBs? |

Fuller is young and in a contract year. Not giving him any chance would be a(nother) mistake |

So we are taking CB, S, WR and QB high. _________________ John Fox

To me "high" is in the first 2 rounds so maybe the Bears will somehow get 4 top ~70 picks. |

He will be given every chance to win a starting job but I think your expectations of him winning a job are unrealistic regardless of whether it's a contract year or not. He's just not very good. I think I recall Hub saying at the end of his rookie year they had him rated as one of the worst corners in the NFL. That despite so many people puffing him up because of his great start. _________________

Not a bad signing, but with how Pace has said he wants the roster to get young I didn't even think Demps was an option.
Hopefully he is productive while Houston-Carson or another young guy develops behind him. _________________ 2013 Kyle Long Rookie of the Year Award
