Lawson is one of my least favorite prospects among the top tier DE. I can't exactly put my finger on it, because he put up some solid numbers and he definitely knows how to get after the QB. Believe I read 1 sack/hurry/hit every 6 rush attempts. Something like that.

Maybe I'd like him more if Dallas still ran 34 scheme.

I like the rest though. Maybe snag another QB or a DL over taking 2 LBs.

Lawson has a similar frame to Gregory...I think he could work as a 4-3 DE. And, like you said, he knows how to get after the QB...which we need.

I'll be honest. I'm a little underwhelmed. I don't necessarily dislike the players, but I feel like this is a great draft class in rounds 1-2. I feel like there will be more prospects with 1st round designations falling into the 2nd this year than in most. But after round 2 the talent seems level out a little. If anything we should seek to acquire more picks in the 1st two rounds, instead of moving back further in those rounds to get more picks in the 3rd. I understand we didn't move that far back, and the trade makes sense, and you picked some good players, like Lawson who with Sheard could do a lot, but I'm just.... underwhelmed. I'd rather take the 3rd we got for Romo and use our own 3rd to trade back into the 2nd. Have pick 28, pick 60, and another pick in the top 50 or top 40.

Also, why is Claiborne not in the re-sign group?

I get what you're saying...but landing Lawson (a 1st round talent) and Jackson (also a 1st round talent) in the 2nd would be pretty damn good. Westbrook could very well end up going in the 2nd, and Bisnowaty could replace Free in a year or two. We all know how good Jake Butt is, also.

Claiborne not being in the re-sign group was an error on my part, fixed.

I like it...I would be just fine with the off-season if it went this way - however, i also am underwhelmed with Lawson - Id say take DE out of the 1st pick equation and insert someone like S JPeppers or a CB like QWilson if available. Id certainly take someone like TJWatt or DWalker over Lawson. And hopefully WR BButler comes on the cheap...he is lazy and a diva...I hope Dallas goes elsewhere, like bringing up Andy Jones and a draft pick to replace BButler and TWill.

Peace

I'm starting to think DE is out of the equation at this point, so I've updated the mock to reflect.

I thought Jonathan Cooper was a FA as well? Or do we have him under contract til next year since he signed so late in the year?

We would have to sign him again. He is a FA.

I thought I had read somewhere that we had re-signed him to a 1 yr extension...guess not.

Will correct.

I mean, he got cut from the Browns.... If we want him again we can afford him.
