Love, love, love the tweet-quote of Ryan Nielsen.

Seems like the brass might have gotten things together...only time will tell. This make me excited to see the (hopefully) progression of Ony specifically.

He appears to be very well respected. He also appears to be more about fundamentals and communicating than scheme. I can definitely get behind that.

Payton always says that the most overlooked aspect of coaching is the teaching part of it... Nielsen appears to be a very good teacher, I'm excited about his addition.

This is a little off topic, but what do you guys think about Mitch Trubisky? I think he has Matt Stafford potential written all over him. At what point would you make a move for him? Would you trade up? If he's there at 11, would you take him?

I've studied Trubisky and while I'm impressed it's far too little a sample size for me to consider trading up for him. Especially with Brees still playing at an elite level, Trubisky is 16th overall on my board and the top rated quarterback but he'll get overdrafted due to the position he plays.

Stafford is a fair comparison however he dosent have as good as arm talent as Sanford yet he is slightly more athletic... hes a BOOM or bust prospect. He could be Stanford but then again he could be Jake Locker.

I would take him at our pick. Let him sit some time and then take over. Will likely decrease the risk of beeing a bust and could really help him develop into a top quarterback!

If (and I do not see it happening) Trubisky were to fall to 11 I would almost gaurentee that he'd be in the discussion. Ultimately I believe that would end up a GM call and I can absoutley see Loomis pulling the trigger.

The reason I can't is because it really feels like this season is do-or-die for Brees and Payton and Loomis. Superbowl or bust.

Sure Trubisky could develop down the road, but we have such glaring needs on D, I can't see us passing on guys who can help us win next season for a guy who could help us win down the road. Especially if it means Loomis and Payton won't be here.

That mentality has left us cash strapped and unprepared for life after Brees. It can't continue or we will be bottom feeders for years once again.

Any truth to Brandin Cooks being on the trade block if the right price came along?

If so, what do you guys think it would take to get him?

I think a 1st and quality defensive player could do the trick. Lots of holes to fill on that side of the ball.

Also, I can't see him being traded this offseason. Maybe next.

First, I highly doubt he'd be traded this year also. With that said though, I'd actually be open to a trade for a 1st and proven positional player (OG, LB, or CB).

If we worked a trade with the Pats: Cooks for the 32nd pick and Jimmy G... I'd be very tempted to bite. But, that's me.

Close, but not quite. I think a deep(ish) playoff run will be enough for the brass to say we're moving in the right direction, and keep everybody in place.

We're not Super Bowl or bust, we're playoffs or bust. Make the playoffs, win a game, and Brees/Payton/Loomis all stay and we'll be SB or bust in 2018.

The Percy Harvin... Vikings/Seahawks trade would be the starting point.
