The 49ers plan on Friday to interview Arizona vice president of player personnel Terry McDonough for the club’s vacant general manager position, multiple sources told CSNBayArea.com. McDonough completed his fourth season with the Cardinals and his third in his current position. He oversees the college and pro personnel departments while assisting with the negotiations of player contracts.
McDonough becomes the ninth known candidate for the job to replace general manager Trent Baalke, who was fired on the weekend of the 49ers’ final game of the regular season.

No real gauge right now as to how serious of a candidate he is but that should play itself out over the next couple of weeks. |

Per Ian Rapoport, Kyle Shanahan is the man in SF and Terry McDonough is our of consideration for the also vacant GM position.
No luck this round for Terry or Harold. |

This is a good thing for the Cardinals. Keep continuity in the organization. I like Harold Goodwin and im sure BA will push for him to be the guy to take over for him. I hope Keim and Bidwill look at all the candidates when that day comes |

Little late on the reporting but this situation took an interesting swing last week when 2 of the 4 finalists named for this position, Packer executives Brian Gutekunst and Eliot Wolf, both withdrew from consideration to sign new deals with GB. As a result and confirmed by Kent Somers, Terry McDonough is back in the running and is scheduled for a 2nd interview.
Stay tuned. |
