Quote:
D’Alessandris enters his 40th season of coaching, including his ninth in the NFL, with the 2017 campaign marking his 38th-overall season guiding an offensive line.

Quote:
D’Alessandris worked at nine different universities, the Canadian Football League and World League (later NFL Europe), before connecting with lauded NFL coach Chan Gailey, who he followed to the Kansas City Chiefs (2008-2009) and Buffalo Bills (2010). D’Alessandris last worked for the San Diego Chargers (2013-2015).

Not sure what to think. With as many injuries as the Chargers have had on the offensive line the past few years it's hard to get a feel for how he did there. Joe was purged with most of the other offensive coaches last January in an attempt to save McCoy's job so I'm not sure his firing is a big negative. Otherwise there's just not enough of a resume in the NFL.

For what it's worth Alessandris was with the Bills from 2010-2012, not just 2010 like the article states. He was Gailey's offensive line coach all three years.

A meh signing in terms of name recognition, but I'll reserve judgement until we see what has has to offer. Like I said in the other thread, ANYONE should be an upgrade over Castillo. Laughing

Any time you can hire an O-Line coach who oversaw one of the worst offensive lines in the league at his last job, you gotta do it.

Eh, normally I would be on the pessimistic side on this one too given Harbaugh's hirings but you have to factor in the injuries the Chargers had on the offensive line throughout his tenure. They might be the only team with worse luck than Baltimore in the durability department.

So why are this guy and John Harbaugh friends? It doesn't seem like they worked together and he didn't work on Jim's staff either..

I thought John only hired friends?

@jamisonhensley Joe D. is one of the best teachers I've ever been around. This is a terrific hire.

Being a great teacher is something that was said about Castillo too. But hey, at least it's praise and not negativity. Laughing

Former Chargers OL coach Joe D'Alessandris lands a new job. Good coach.

Williams is the Chargers reporter for ESPN like Hensley is the Ravens reporter for ESPN.

This is great. Joe D was well-liked, respected and cared for his players (and everyone, to be honest).

Just because a positive thing was said about guy A, and he was bad, doesn't mean a positive thing said about guy B is automatically bad.
