No, the GM will be either Wolf, Gutekunst, Paton or McDonough.

While it's backwards from how most would have done it, Terry McDonough and Kyle Shanahan would be a pretty solid end result to this process.

Will Kyle be given final say over the 53 man roster? I'm sure Kyle is asking for that power. If so, this could be a disaster in the making. They need to hire Wolf and give him final say over everything.

According to Florio he will be getting final say on the 53 man roster and draft. That definitely is a recipe for disaster.

Packers exec Brian Gutekunst has decided to remain in Green Bay and not pursue 49ers GM job, per source.

Eliot Wolf also pulled out.

For his sake, I hope Kyle stays away and waits until next year. I can't imagine any coach having success there. That job basically requires a placeholder coach for 2-3 years before being fired and then the next coach has a chance to do something once the roster is rebuilt.

But Jed York thinks he can land that coach who can do something right away... that roster needs to be blown up.

Blown up? There's nothing there TO blow up. Cut Kaep, have nearly $100 million in cap space, rebuild over the next 3-5 years. Its as blank a slate as anyone could ask for.
