Been reporting on possibility of Greg Roman joining Ravens staff as an assistant since last Wed. Been in contact with John Harbaugh...

Would expect the topic to come up at Ravens end-of-season pressers Tues. Could be resolved soon. Would not be coordinator job

Ravens have an opening on their offensive staff. Run game needs help. That's Roman's forte. Could be a run game specialist-type role

Harbaugh spoke last wk of bringing somebody in to help run game. Roman a candidate. Not sure what potential hiring would mean for Castillo

So... I don't know? If you look back Castillo was initially brought in with the title of run-game coordinator and replaced Andy Moeller as the offensive line coach the next year. Hard to say how much Roman could actually help the running game if he's not calling the plays... not that I would want that either. Weird potential situation. But if it gets Castillo out I would be fine with it.

I'm told Greg Roman may be accepting @ravens coaching offer but still working on finalizing details @sn_nfl

So... Okay? Not really saying anything. Laughing

Will be really interesting to see what his title ends up being. I'm hoping for offensive line coach.

I just hope its not one of those "too many cooks" scenarios as it was, when we had to take Al Saunders in as QB coach or whatever it was.

As it stands the Ravens only have sous chefs and dishwashers in the offensive kitchen. If they bring in enough guys maybe one of them will end up being a head chef...

Basically, it can't get any worse than it is so I don't care how many coaches are brought in. Not that I think Roman is all that great. Don't want him calling plays either. But compared to Trestman and Mornhinweg the bar is pretty low.

Former Bills OC Greg Roman is joining Baltimore's staff, per league source. Final duties still being ironed out, but he'll be with Ravens.

Think

chances that we have a repeat of 2016 where we fire our OC after 4-5 games and promote Roman?

Greg Roman's role in Baltimore? Interim-offensive-coordinator-in-waiting.

Laughing

Also sounds like Rick Dennison might be free to come back as the QB coach.

Greg Roman will be a senior offensive assistant and the team's tight end coach. Last year's TE coach, Richard Angulo, will be asst OL coach

Okay... seems like some unnecessary shuffling. Angulo is a pretty young coach and played tight end in the NFL. Not sure how much help he will be as an assistant offensive line coach. At least not enough to to cancel out Castillo's terribleness.

Roman has been a tight ends coach in Houston and San Francisco though so it's not too strange on that end.

Solid hire and if Morningwhig fails (We all know he will) we'll have a solid replacement for when Harbaugh fires him after 4 games for not throwing it enough.
