Porter has 15 pts (7-9), 6 rebs, 4 asts & 3 steams through 3.75 quarters at Boston. Beal has 28 pts (6-7 from 3) and 4 asts

Wall has been atrocious tonight (3-16 & 0-4 from 3) that's 19% and he's not trying very hard on D either. Hopefully he gets it going and attacks in the 4th quarter and quits settling for jump shots.

I'm beginning to be a bit frustrated with Ernie not signing or at least bringing in Hollis Thompson in for a workout. The Wizards could use another realizable shooter off the bench and Thompson would fit the bill there. He's a career 39% shooter from 3. Adding him would allow the Wizards second unit to play Oubre more as a 4 where he could take advantage of mismatches and it would give them more scoring to go with Burke, Smith and McClellan.

These dirty birds looking like contenders. 1st round rookie strong safety Neal has 106 tackles and 9 passes defenses on the year. Cravens could have had similar #s with an int if he had played safety all year. Let's hope he does it next year.

Wizards Top Sixers, Win 11th Straight At Home

http://wizofawes.com/2017/01/14/washington-wizards-three-takeaways-wizards-top-sixers-win-11th-straight-home/‬

Wizards started the first quarter and a half being down by as much 13 points because of atrocious defense and sharp shooting from 3, the Wizards came back to tie the Sixers at half time thanks to outscoring them 35-26 in the second quarter after Brooks ripped them a new one for playing horrible defense for a quarter and a half.

They went on to outscore the Sixers 30 to 15 in the 3rd quarter and sat their starters down for most of the fourth quarter for rest and still outscored them 23-22 in the 4th quarter.

Quote:
Their start wasn’t ideal, but the Wizards managed to close out the game strongly, 109-93, winning their 11th straight game inside the Verizon Center.

Wall erupts in the third quarter

John Wall is averaging over 20 points per game this season, the most he’s averaged since entering the NBA in 2010, but he’s not necessarily a “scorer.”

Wall is certainly capable of scoring 30+ on any given night, but lacks the innate ability – something that the likes of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry have, for instance.

Wall: 25 pts, 7 rebs, 7 asts
Beal: 20 pts, 4 rebs
Porter: 10 pts, 6 rebs
Morris: 14 pts, 9 rebs
Gortat: 12 pts, 10 rebs

Wizards win again! I think that's the 12th home win in a row. Cool

120-101

Beal - 25 pts (3-3 from 3), 2 rebs, 5 asts, 3 stls
Porter - 12 pts (3-5 for 3), 4 rebs
Morris - 17 pts, 13 rebs, 5 asts, 2 stls, 2 blks
Gortat - 6 pts, 6 rebs
Oubre - 18 pts (3-4 from 3), 4 rebs, 2 asts, 1 blks
Satoransky - 10 pts, 10 rebs, 3 asts, 1 stls

I'm glad you're enjoying the home streak there for the Wizards. As they enter the second half of the season, they've only got 18 home games left. In those 18, they've got the following coming to Verizon Center:
- Memphis
- Boston
- Cleveland
- Oklahoma City
- Utah
- Golden State
- Toronto
- Atlanta

Only Memphis and Atlanta are below 0.600 (and even then, just below at 0.581 and 0.585, respectively). Can they beat those teams? Perhaps, but oddsmakers probably wouldn't favor them.

Yes, they do get some bottom feeders to munch on: Knicks, Lakers, Pelicans, Magic, Mavericks, Nets, and Heat. Other than that, they only have three "in their weight class" teams: Indiana, Chicago, and Charlotte.

So, call it 12-6 at home (all of the bottom feeders, similar strength, and a couple of upsets along the way).

The real question: can they actually do anything on the road, where they are 4-13 so far? Arguably the schedule is much nicer for them (only 7 of the heavies, and 3 in weight class teams), but they've had hard times playing in New York, Charlotte, and Brooklyn. Then there is the fact the schedule does them no favors down the stretch (18 of their last 28 and 8 of their last 10 on the road to close out the season). In fact, after February 6th, they won't have more than two game home stand the rest of the way, but will have two separate 5-game road trips.

Are the Wizards are a playoff team this year? Judging by the rest of the East, I'd say "possibly" considering that only 5.0 games separate 5th (where the Wizards currently are) and 12th (the Magic at 17-25). Provided they could not completely suck on the road, they probably should make it in.

Even with that, I would still lay money down that they bomb out no later than the second round (and only if they get the 4th or 5th seed; below that, I would mark them as a one-and-done).

Totally agree. One thing to keep in mind is that they are targeting Mahinmi to be back in February. If that happens a, their 2nd unit gets stronger and their rotation gets stronger, particularly in rebounding and on defense.
