I'm really surprised how we won 12 games. Shows how great Mack, Carr, Oline played....
All those needs
RB- need stud runner with thump and vision
Slot WR- inconsistent slot
Tight End- inconsistent, but have a good prospect
then look at defense
25 sacks, Mack and Irvin only guys putting pressure on qbs
no interior push
weakside backer glaring hole
middle linebacker- picked a guy off the streets and he was instant starter
corner- big corners but no speed/explosion corners
safety- joseph was out alot, and nelson was okay but really lacked speed
now have concerns with Penn age, Aldon state of mind, Mario injury history, New RB.. Reggie needs to have a hell of offseason for us to really take that step to be super bowl contenders! We aren't in it to be in the playoffs, we are the Raiders. use to be the up there with Super Bowl Rings and win percentage. |

Really disappointing news to be honest if true. The Raiders have hit his ceiling IMO.
This is kind of like not addressing MLB last offseason. A problem we all see a mile away, but no fix coming.
Going into 2018 with KNJ inspires little no confidence. |
Ben Henney was probably the biggest disappointment of 2016. He was playing good at the end of 2015, but couldn't hold down that MLB spot. Reggie faith wasn't rewarded in this case. |
Based on what? Dude had horrible instincts, constantly getting fooled, late on plays, and can't shed for his life. That's why he got dropped all the way down to the 5th round of the 2015 NFL Draft. We need to stop overvalue our players like they're some big time players when actually these guys are backups at best. Perfect example is Perry Riley Jr and David Amerson.
Ken Norton Jr. is just flat out horrible. I can't believe he's back. What a clueless moron. He's worst than John Marshall, Rob Ryan, and Chuck Bresnahan. He must got some dirt on Jack Del Rio or something because there's no way he should be back next season. |

If KNJ stays as the DC, and that seems to be the case. What role will Wade Phillips play? An advisor? _________________

Interesting. So maybe Norton will get the axe, or will be kept as LB coach? Is that even possible? |

There are occasions in sport where the fans can see something that for some reason the ownership can't, and keeping this useless bum Norton is one of these occasions. You'll get people who try to rationalize it and say stuff like "but if we have a better MLB we'll be better", but realistically he's a useless DC, a waste of a contract and a guy who will continue to hold back our defense next season.
There's a very good chance we'll be sitting here a year from now lamenting this decision, as we finish with a bottom 10 defense yet again. |

I am not a huge Norton fan, but there is something to be said for giving co-ordinators a period of time to develop - Norton was a position coach before, and being a DC is a step-up.
However, if you have a chance at a blue chip DC like Phillips, especially when the other side of the ball is scoring points for fun under the guidance of your franchise QB then you really need to take it. |

https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-ranking-all-32-nfl-secondaries-this-season/
17. Oakland Raiders (15)
Top overall grade: CB Sean Smith, 82.5 (No. 22)
Top coverage grade: CB Sean Smith, 82.3 (No. 24)
Top run-defense grade: S Reggie Nelson, 78.5 (No. 34)
Most snaps: S Reggie Nelson, 1,121
After a really poor start to the season, free-agent pickup Reggie Nelson played much better from Week 6 and on. Still, it didn’t match the level of play from either him or Charles Woodson (the player he replaced) in 2015. David Amerson had another 12 pass breakups this year, but his regression led to more yards and touchdowns allowed, and opposing quarterbacks’ passer rating when targeting Amerson ballooned from 66.3 in 2015 to 102.2 this year. Sean Smith had another solid season, and strong safety Karl Joseph impressed as a rookie before missing time due to injury. _________________

But wait... I was told he didn't regress?
He was awful this season. A liability in coverage. He reverted back to the Washington version Amerson. He needs to step it up and earn that contract. _________________

Guess u can say I'ma Nelson defender but I'm surprised to see his run defense felt like he missed a lot of tackles _________________

Same here. Also, appeared to lack the speed to prevent big plays from happening. I guess he's getting old haha. _________________

Does anyone know the impact on Aldon's contract since he was suspended all of last year? Do we still have his rights for 2 years or is there now just 1 year left on the contract? |
