I have been offered the following trade:

I will be receiving Cam Newton, a 1st round this yr, 1st round in 2018 and three 2nd round picks in this year's draft for tyreek hill and Marcus Mariota.

Is this a good deal for me? My current keepers which have to be declared by Superbike Sunday are as follows:

Mariota
Amari Cooper
Tyrrell Hill
Todd Gurley
Melvin Gordon
Jay Ajayi

If I do this deal, I would obviously keep Newton and probably keep Delanie Walker instead.

Let me know if this deal is good.

I personally believe Marcus Mariota will be the best qb in the league within the next yr or 2.

Thoughts????

Hard to say without knowing # of teams in the league.

But in a 12 team, 6 keeper league, 3 second round picks is a ton of ammunition for (essentially) just Tyreek Hill. And that's if you think Mariota to Newton is a downgrade for you. (Mariota for Newton and 2 first round picks????)

You should make the trade and not be surprised if your league vetoes it, if your league does vetoes.

I would take that deal in a heartbeat. I don't necessarily agree with your evaluation of Mariota being the best QB in the league in two years, but he's trending in the right direction in fantasy. The exciting part of the deal for me is Hill and the picks. Mariota is just a bonus. I'd do it.

Thanks for the input wveryone! This is a 14 team league and we csm keep 4 to 6 keeperrs. I think Mariots has a better skillset than Newton overall. Newton can do things that Mariota and not any other qb in NFL history can do for sure. But where i feel that Mariota excells over Newton is his pure qb ability. He is a better thrower accuracy wise and has way better mechanics. Look at the numbers Mariota put up in an offense thats not built for him solely.

Do you think I should do the deal? It appears like it would be a lateral move at qb for now. Although I feel as if Mariota is the better talent, due to the fact he plays QB far better than Newton. Newton relies too much on his natural gifts and really isn't a student of the game like Mariota.

2017 keepers would be

M Gordon

Delanie Walker (not sure if you have any other options)

PLUS adding a 2017 1st, 3 2017 2nd round picks and a 2018 1st round pick.

I think the Mariotta to Newton is a lateral move. Could be argued a small upgrade or downgrade depending on how you view each of the QB's, but i think the difference is minimal.

Being a 14 team league with 4-6 keepers, you are looking at somewhere between 56-84 keepers.

I think you have a pretty good core of keepers with what you have, 3 solid/upper tier RBs, a #1 WR and a very good QB.

What pick in the rounds would the 1st and the 3 2nds be??

I would do it and have would have done it yesterday!!!

Thanks for the feedback!

The 1st round pick this yr is late mid (8 or 9ish) but the three 2nd rounders are extremely early. Maybe im over thinking this but i am held up on the idea that i truly believe Mariota is better. Additionaly, it is a 6 pt td league for qb passes and i think eventually the titans offense will be focused atound Mariota rather tha the running game. Sometimes i feel as though the best trade is the one you dont make. I feel as though the league has figured out cam and we have seen the best of him, whereas Mariota has just shown us a glimpse of what he can do.

I generally agreed with everyone that Newton plus two firsts, and 3 seconds is a great deal and you should take it.

That said...here's the range of players available with the firsts and seconds in this past draft (based on ADP):

85 7.12 Carson Palmer QB ARI 83.8 9.2 5.05 9.12 204
86 7.12 Chris Ivory RB JAC 84.1 7.8 5.11 9.03 256

113 10.02 Kirk Cousins QB WAS 109.6 9.1 7.08 11.

After looking at that list and previous comments on how you think Mariota will be the best QB in the league I wouldn't recommend the deal. I don't think any of these players are game changers, hell the only names that stick out are Derek Carr, an injured Eifert, and the #1 defense.

Here's a SUPER early preview of 2017:

85 9.02 Stephen Gostkowski PK NE 9 114.0 47.6 5.09
86 9.02 Marcus Mariota QB TEN 13 114.1 15.7 7.11

88 9.11 Anquan Boldin WR DET 10 122.5 61.8 3.09
89 9.11 Dion Lewis RB NE 9 123.4 43.3 8.10

102 11.09 Tyler Lockett WR SEA 5 148.8 6.4
103 11.09 John Brown WR ARI 9 149.0 14.7
104 11.11 Carson Wentz QB PHI 4 151.0 18.3
105 11.13 Christine Michael RB SEA 5 153.3 17.2
106 12.12 Carolina Defense DEF CAR 7 166.3 16.2

108 13.12 San Diego Defense DEF SD 11 179.5 23.2
109 13.14 Blake Bortles QB JAC 5 182.3 6.4
110 14.10 Steven Hauschka PK SEA 5 192.4 6.8
111 15.11 Dennis Pitta TE BAL 8 207.3 1.5

I like the shot at getting some year 2 WRs (Shepard, Coleman, Parker*) but outside of that this isn't an exciting group.

TL;DR: Don't do it.(I think this is the answer you wanted to hear anyway)

*I know this will be Parker's third year.
