Bengals cut Mike Nugent and signed Randy Bullock....

never thought I would see the day. I would have preferred to pick up a young guy who could earn a spot.

I feel bad for Nugent but it needed to be done.

He sucked last season as well and just was getting worse. I'm fine with Bullock for now...

Sucks for Nugent. He's from my home town so I got to watch him start from Centerville high school to OSU to the NFL. It just got in his head and he could never recover. Hopefully Bullock shows something. You would hate to start the year with a rookie kicker

Sad but necessary. I look forward to his tryout.

I don't.

Guy gets paid a million $$$'s a year to kick a damn ball through some sticks.

IMO he should have been fired right after that Denver game last year

He's still a person. And from all accounts, a really great guy. Had some mental trouble and started hitting kicks.

I actually wouldn't mind if he tried out again this offseason, but the other kickers better be really bad. I don't think he should "win" a competition. More like the other kickers would have to lose it.

Sure, kickers are people too.....

Its just bad when a kicker actually costs you wins; just can't have that.

Time IMO to fill-in for the last few games, and get a new draftee and a couple of UDFA's to try out for next season. Vet kickers cost too much IMO; time to get some fresh new blood in the place, and look for another Justin Tucker. Nugent has been on borrowed time for nearly a year now; so no tears for Mike from me.......

I suspect a lot of teams will be looking for new kickers this coming off-season given all the misses this year, so we may have to 'spend' quite a relatively high pick to nab one.

I know he isn't a long-term solution for the team, but I'd like to see Tom Coughlin get a chance to coach this team. If for no other reason than to see if a "disciplinarian" coach would have a big impact on the collapses this team suffers from every year.
