Well, it was a game. Payton outmaneuvered Williams at every turn. Clearly a lot of bad blood there. At least this should get Fisher closer to being fired.

I'm gonna blame this one on the refs. It's FF, I can do that.

The question is... at 4-6, what record would we have to fall to in order for the Saints to seriously consider moving Payton?

I see 3 very loseable games in Detroit, Arizona and Atlanta. The Rams have always been a thorn in Payton's side and the Bucs are good enough to at least split with us.

5-11 or 6-10 is a very real possibility... however I see 8-8 or 7-9 more likely.

I would move on after this season regardless of the final record tbh, I think its time for a fresh start. Respect the hell out of Payton, but I think its just time to move on.

nd its funny, for as much crap as Fisher gets for going 7-9, Payton is right there with him Laughing Sad

Any chance him and Williams can bury the hatchet? If so, send him our way.

That would hurt my soul tbh

No, I don't think there will be any burying of hatchets.

Williams might bury a hatchet into Payton's head...

No matter how many times you guys say it here in the Saints forum, we will not move on from Brees while Payton is here and we will not move on from Payton while Brees is here. They will ride out Brees' career together here, and you guys need to get over the wanting to move on every single time we lose or go into a game expecting to lose.

Enjoy the end of their careers here, and hope we can make the playoffs. And this team feels different than 14 or 15, it has hope for the future. As long as Brees doesn't fall off a cliff next year, we'll be in the playoffs IMO.

Also enjoy the hypothetical hatchet we just drove into Gregg Williams' hypothetical head. Wink

Saints clearly came into this game wanting to shut Gurley down and make Goff beat them...

Rankins is becoming a monster inside!

Man... Ellerbe is a difference maker, he needs to stay healthy.

Agreed on Ellerbe. I just don't have faith in him staying healthy though. Really enjoying watching Rankins/Fairly/Jordan.

Defensive offseason wish list:
*Resign Fairly
*Draft a DE to play opposite of Jordan
*LBs still need work. Whether it be drafting or signing a FA.

Haha. While I was watching the game and watching Payton's reactions every time the Saints score, a line from Remember the Titans popped in my head.

"Herman......leave no doubt."

I like the way you think, SWATcha!
And mix in just a little more O-line, but I understand you're talking stricktly about D.

Rankins is going to be a monster, he's already a huge presence. If Kikaha ever stays healthy (and we re-sign Fairley of course) our DL is going to be nasty. Kikaha/Rankins/Fairley/Jordan. Mmm. Our secondary is already good when healthy, but there's the issue.

I just wish I could see this defense play fully healthy for an entire season. It's football, injuries happen. Literally no team will ever be injury free, but boy do I wish it could happen. Ellerbe changes our defense so much, a full season of Rankins, Kikaha, full season of Breaux, would still have Keenan Lewis, PJ Williams, etc

Honestly feel like our defense would be pretty good in that case. And I think if next year we can just stay relatively healthy then we'll be at least top 20.

Not quite the same Herman lol. You bummed he went to Texas? I don't think he was ever seriously considering LSU, just using them for leverage. Sorry amigo Confused

I didn't, always thought he was going to Texas but ESPN got my hopes up a little when they "confirmed" a report that he had agreed with LSU. Never again.

I like Coach O though. Happy for him and hoping for the best.
