Once again, we see that we blew another draft... 2015!!!!

1. Andrus Peat = mediocre at best
1. Stephone Anthony = can't see the field
2. Hau'Oli Kikaha = injury prone in college, injury prone in NFL
3. Garrett Grayson = practice squad
3. PJ Williams= jury still out
5. Davis Tull= nothing
5. Tyeler Davison = the one and only good pick
5. Damion Swann = injured every other play
7. Marcus Murphy = fumblitis

How it should've went

1. Marcus Peters
1. Preston Smith
2. Eric Kendricks
3.David Johnson
3. Ty Montgomery
5. Jarvis Harrison
5. Tyeler Davison
5. James O'Shaughnessy
7. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu

Love how when a player such as Anthony dosent see the field this staff places all the blame on the player... what happened to this so called "VISION" Payton has for every player selected???

This is a terrible staff when it comes to identifying talent and sadly it's not changing anytime soon. Sure they hit once in a while but never enough to sustain a viable roster. Brees has saved Loomis and Payton's rear end there while career in NOLA.

That's FACT

I'm convinced that the biggest problem Stephone Anthony has is the fact that he was a Rob Ryan guy... rumors are that Ryan was the one who banged the table for Anthony over a couple other LB's when he was selected due to his size and speed.

Now Dennis Allen is running the defense and he dosent see Anthony or Kikaha as viable assets. Yes Kikaha got injured but Allen phased him out the defense at the end of last season and who knows how much he would have played this year had he not gotten hurt.

Allen continues to refer to Anthony as a "hit and run" linebacker which is a nice way of saying that Anthony has all the physical skills but is lacking mentally.

This is the problem with the Saints... they simply don't have a vision on defense, they have zero idea of how to develop talent on that side of the ball and there is no accountability when this front office screws up!

By the way... what ya think the excuse for Vitt will be now that he's overseen the demise of a physically gifted 1st round linebacker?

There may be something legitimately wrong with Anthony. It baffles my mind why he doesn't see the field if there wasn't a problem. Somebody, even if it is fellow players, would go to bat for him if he was that infallible.

Never in a million years would SP have drafted Marcus Peters.
I did want Eric Kendricks or Denzel Perryman though.

to tell you the truth, I don't see why we don't start trading draft picks for guys like Sheldon Richardson, Trent Murphy, or Mychel Kendricks. We can't seem to develop defensive players either way, so why not trade for guys that at least can play?

Also remember that our "coaching staff" is a term to be used loosely. They aren't that good at coaching. We could have drafted all those players, who's to say they would actually be as good with us?

So Payton's first draft was a pretty good one, and consisted of Reggie Bush, Roman Harper (2nd), Jahri Evans (4th), Rob Ninkovich (5th), Zach Strief (7th) , and Marques Colston (7th). There were only 2 that fizzled out and went away. We still have 3 of these players (4 with Saints Champs rings) and Ninkovich is still a force with New England.

Since that draft........
2007 Jermon Bushrod
2008 Tracy Porter
2009 Malcom Jenkins, Thomas Morstead
2010 Patrick Robinson, Charles Brown, Jimmy Graham, Al Woods (none of whom are still on the roster, all of them still play, most still start
2011 Cam Jordan & Mark Ingram in the 1st round. The rest are not playing.

Where I'm going with this is once Payton got the job as HC, I'm not sure if Loomis relaxed on scouting, Payton relaxed (or was otherwise focused) because he had the HC job and Drew Brees, or what, but Payton's first draft was really good, and since then has been mediocre.

2nd point is his first draft brought players that were coached up to realize their talent. Since then............ We've missed on some really good players, sent mediocre players elsewhere where they became good, and we still suck.

The trends after 10 years with 1 team are not favoring our beloved Saints.

This one is simple... your overlooking Payton's 2nd contract with the Saints when he demanded more power in personnel decisions and got it.

From 2006 till that point Loomis had final say in those matter but all that changed in 2010 and that's the same time we saw a downward spiral in the scouting dept and in FA additions.
