i just heard a football expert on the tony kornheiser show(i think it might have been Peter King) say that there may be a possible Phillip Rivers trade in the works with the cowboys. The chargers trade Phillip Rivers(along with his gigantic salary) to the cowboys and the cowboys give us roy williams(supposedley he's upset with parcells) and one of their first rounders(i think it was the 11th pick he said). I think that would be be an awesome trade because it gives us:
a)a great free safety which we definately need
b)gets rid of River's enormus salary
c)We keep a proven quarterback with a very likable personality
d)three first round picks to fill all our holes
e)make tomlinson happy bcuz he likes brees
f)sends Rivers to where he grew up
I think we could trade two of our first to trade up and get williams and then with the other one we could either
a)get a quality tackle
b)get shaun cody or another de
c)or get a de/olb pass specialist to replace lebe i.e. Justin Tuck
I'm starting to fall in love with this trade because of all the possibilities. It came from a pretty reliable source and i don't think it sounds too farfetched. What do you guys think? |

Its the most unrealistic trade I've ever seen. It would be almost as bad as the Herschel Walker trade.
The Cowboys wouldnt trade the 11th overall pick for Rivers, much less our Pro Bowl Safety.
Jerry Jones already said he's not looking to get a young QB until Henson has another season under his belt. |

How about Rivers and the first first round pick to the Niners for the #1 pick and third round pick _________________ Get rid of John York! |

Nah....I think the Chargers are gonna keep rivers around and make sure this was not a fluke year for Brees. Brees said it himself....in not so many words....the competition is what made him excel.
Keep Rivers for another year. |

Dumping Rivers and getting draft picks or players for him is a great idea. We've got a Pro Bowl QB in Brees. We don't need a high priced back up. |

That is absolutely horrible! This trade would never EVER happen. Roy W will be a Cowboy for life. |

This trade is ridiculous. the cowboys are not going to trade roy williams and a first rounder for another unproven qb. you can forget about that idea.
The only trade I could possibly see is if the packers trade their first rounder for rivers. that way they have a qb to take after favre and the best thing about it is that rivers has already been in the league for one year. But that is all that I see the chargers could get for rivers is a late first. unless arizona or tennessee step up to the plate and give the chargers an early first. |

You'e right, the trade would be fantastic for the Chargers...I just don't see it happening. I don't think the Cowboys are desparate enough. Still, the Chargers are sitting pretty...with Brees now tagged, we have two top QB's and six teams that draft in front of us that need need one. The phone WILL ring. _________________ Go Blue! |

AJ has publicly stated he will not try to trade Rivers. The only way some team will be able to pry Rivers loose this season is to make a deal that CAN'T be refused...i.e. first this year and one next...or top player and a first next year. The Chargers have cap space, a good team and no need to do anything but use the draft choices they have to get even better. _________________ Go Blue! |
