I agree with the success of Arians and Zimmer I don't think Koetter is any less a candidate of the other coordinators being mentioned.

We'd need a DC that can literally run that side of the ball without the HC having to worry about it. Think Kiffin under Gruden.

I'm concerned that it may distract Koetter having to run the team rather than the offence. If Marinelli becomes available, I'd want to take the chance. My ideal scenario would be a HC who would be happy to retain Koetter, though that seems to be a pipe dream.

There aren't any defensive minded candidates that spring to mind when thinking about potential HCs.

I understand what you have written. Off the top of my head, the following head coaches are the play callers: Peyton, McCarthy, Arians, Reid and Lovie Rolling Eyes .

For me, the first step is what does Koetter want to do. If he wants to be a head coach, they have to give him a legitimate chance. If he's happy as an OC, I think they're better off taking a run at McDermott, at least he knows the division.

That's gross.

Lovie isn't getting fired nor should he. Winston will benefit from continuity, not another regime change. Winston has not played well the past 3 weeks and has a fair share of blame for our 1-4 stretch after the Philly game. This team lacks play makers.

well looks like I did not miss much when I decided to leave the house at halftime

I know we badly need help on defense but our WR core is so sad. I read through this thread and saw the Dye drops. Like I said before: father time is taking hold of VJax and it will only get worse next season. It's night and day on our offense from when Evans Jackson are starting to when its Evans and Dye.

Also saw the Winston pick, not too bad of an interception. He had a blitzer in his face and threw it up for grabs off his back foot. The problem is you throw a ball like that to Evans or Jackson, not a running back. But at least he did not stare down a receiver and get picked off by a safety or corner cutting the route-THAT would make me worried about his progress.

This offseason we have a lot of work to do. And sadly this team has so many holes that I do not think this upcoming free agency and draft are enough to fill everything

Also we probably end the year 6-10. Carolina lost today but there has been too many examples of what happens to a team when they rest starters week 17 AND have a 1st round bye. They usually come out very rusty. I think Ron Rivera plays the starters up until the end of the 3rd quarter.

Never like "rooting" for a loss but at this point I don't think it's the worst thing. Those extra draft slots could be huge in the difference between a win/loss. We always seem to be one or two spots out of getting our guy.

I hope Winston plays well and we win but at this point in the year a little numb to it. Hopefully no injuries.

I agree.

At this point Winston has proven himself to the team and i don't think Winston needs extra wins to boost his confidence like, maybe some other rookie QBs would. Panthers are not undefeated anymore, so there is no added meaning to this game anymore.

This might be last chance to utilize high draft picks in a while, if Winston continues improving like he has so far.

Yeah I'm expecting Winston to tear it up year 2. I fully believe we won't be picking top 10 for awhile barring major injuries. We just need to add some depth at WR and possibly draft an upgrade at T.
