Don't see him as an upgrade over Bironas but better than Coons or Bonani. Pretty decent touchback percentage. Still only 27. Not exciting but probably better off than we were a few hours ago at kicker. _________________

Something seems to be wrong with Bironas, dunno what, but he's getting no looks. _________________

Not sure, but here's an article from a KC fan on their kicker position battle.

All things being equal, it's understandable the Chiefs decide to go with the cheaper option, especially when you have a few important players who need new deals. |

Sign him. He is a good kicker, but bad contract cost him his job. |
Quote: | Good enough to be on a roster. Great on kickoffs and is a good enough kicker, just not worth what we were paying him. |

He was getting old and his leg was diminishing. As was his accuracy on field goals. Plus, just a personal speculation, but Rob didn't always seem to be in peak conditioning the last couple of years. I feel like as the years went on, Rob's belly expanded more and more. While that's not a huge deal for a kicker, maybe they tied his diminishing leg to what they deem to be poor work habits and decided to cut ties. Lets also not forget that before 2013 the team gave him a 2 year 6 million deal which he clearly didn't earn last season.
I think we will find better than 2013 Bironas, we might not find a kicker like Bironas in his prime. But Bironas is a shell of that guy. _________________

Wow. A kicker is the top post training camp cut signing. I like him better than Coons. _________________

At least this is an improvement of some sort. He's no Rob Bironas, but he's better than the crap we have (or had).
Succop and Whizenhunt must have read my post, from a while back, about Succop being the main reason Whiz is our HC now. I guess both of them figured Whiz owes him one, and now he's cashing in. _________________ HEALTH STATEMENT: I'm not "fat", just well nutritioned. |

I'm happy about this. Succop is an obvious improvement over Coons, and he is still a young guy. If he stays consistent hopefully he can be our kicker for a long time. _________________

Surprised we didn't sign him to at least a two year deal, if he does well I guess we can re-sign him in the off-season. _________________ My Teams:

87% FGs last year (the highest of his career so far plus the highest in Chief's history), many game winning FGs, 27 yrs old..I really like this pick. Im altering my original 8-8 WL prediction for this season to 10-6 _________________
