Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon show make a movie on how to be a moron

He's obviously got a serious problem, you can say moron but addiction is a hard thing to battle.
Addiction is a serious problem but it takes a moron to be caught smoking or possessing pot. If he likes to smoke, the simple solution is keep that stuff at home. Getting arrest for possession isn't part of the addiction. It's simply being a moron.

But fact is, he does have a problem and he does need help.

Wrong place, wrong time. Could happen to a lot of people, many of whom are quite intelligent.

Discuss the player and how the suspension affects his future and the teams season/future.

Not the incident, not the punishment, and not how it compares to other offences and other punishments.

Those are the rules of the NFL News Forum.

It's a bummer to see people with such exceptional talent fail to grow up and put it to use. He's in for a rude awakening when teams stop calling and he his money is gone. Finding a real job is going to be a shock to his system. I hope he turns his life around for himself regardless of whether he plays another NFL game or not.

I'd be surprised if he plays again. He needed to be getting his life in order to get reinstated and this is the exact opposite of progress.

Also interesting of note:

R. Jay Soward is still on the Jaguars roster. We never bothered to release him after his last suspension and because a contract freezes on an indefinite suspension, he's still technically a member of the team. He played on the team for one year in 2000.

What a first round pick Soward was. What's with Jaguar WRs and substance abuse?

Jimmy Smith is in prison because of coke. Never got it under control during his career. Remember he was suspended for it. Matt Jones had substance abuse issues. Then you have R. Jay Soward. Now you have Blackmon. Hell, didn't Reggie Williams also have a bunch of run ins with the law over drugs?

That's four first round picks for the Jags at WR and the team's greatest WR. Shocked

Yeah, it's awful to see players like he and Josh Gordon who have the talent to be pro bowl or all pro players just throw it away. They won't go anywhere until they accept that they need help and based on their actions and what I've seen written in articles it appears neither of them want help.

I have a hard time seeing either ever being successful in this league with the way drug punishments are administered.

It is not hard to not get arrested. Just don't be a moron. Don't make yourself look suspicious and only have it on you when you're coming back from getting it.

And Blackmon should be able to have friends to buy him it and deliver it, he's got money.

And by being suspicious, I mean rolling in a gansta car with the ridiculously big wheels on old Mercurys and Buicks, or having long hippie hair, or having Grateful Dead and Phish stickers on the back of your car, and just dress like a decent, average person.

Granted, there will always be racial profiling which can't be helped.

But I guess Blackmon and Gordon will be tearing up the AFL now.
