Seeing the other post got me thinking. Would you want to keep DMC if he has say 1200 yds and stays healthy? I have always liked him but I think even if he got 1500 I would still be hesitant to keep him. But man if that were to happen we would have an interesting situation for sure. I have always wanted to know what he could accomplish in 16 games.

He needs to not get hurt. It is really as simple as that.

We, and the rest of the country have been waiting for DMac to put together an entire season without injury. That is his biggest concern, and if he stays healthy, he might get a decent 2 yr deal next offseason. If he gets hurt again this season, his career is over as a player in the NFL.

His career wouldn't be over but he wouldn't get paid much and he'd be relegated to a back up role.

Spend more time on the field and less time in the training room.

No. Can't trust him to stay healthy going forward even if by some miracle he does this year. If he wants to play for the vet minimum again, sure.

Play 16 games with 4.5+ average and at least 10 total TD's. Not to concerned with total run yardage since he is a factor in the pass game. Obviously even with that teams still concerned but should make him available to us for reasonable price. And we have already showed we havent fully given up on him yet for reasonable price.

Show some explosion. He clearly wants to be in oakland so even if he can't play a full schedule, if he makes an impact on the field, he's worth keeping around for 2 to 3 million per year. If he wants big money though I don't think we can give it to him.

He'll come back if he shows explosion and stays healthy. And I think we can resign him to a pretty good deal if he has a good season. Now if he has 2500 total yards and 20 total TDs well then things get complicated.

Sorry but you are incorrect. First of all, he's already been demoted to a backup role (last year behind Jennings). Second, he is already getting paid close to nothing on a 1 year incentive based deal. Can't get paid much less than that.

stay healthy and produce....if he could be the #2 and go over 1000 total yards and bring big plays to the offense, I would be good...
