It was just reported on NFL Insiders that Kaep just got a contract extension of 6 years 110 million dollars with a good chunk of that being guaranteed.

So, what does that mean for Cam? Kaep has taken them to two NFCCG while Cam has gotten us to the playoffs once (thus far). I know we have used the 5th year option so we have some time, but what should we expect for Newton when that time comes? 115 million? 120 million? If we don't go to the playoffs next year should we expect less? 100 mi? 105 mil?

the main ramification is that the discussion on ESPN of the Panthers OTAs was pushed from the beginning to the end of the whole one hour show. I hate kaepernic even more now.

This contract makes me think the salary cap will expand exponentially in the future. Cap's deal is just under Aaron Rogers contract. We all knew the day would come when Cam get his money. Bottom line is you have to pay for top tier talent. So I'm like, whatever...

Short of a complete and utter meltdown this coming season (or serious injury) Cam will get paid like a top 5 QB. You can bank that. Foregone conclusion. Whether its us or someone else, whether he takes us to the playoffs or not, whether he improves or not, whether he has "earned" it or not. He's way too dynamic a talent a QB driven league.

And 2 years after that, QBs will be signing even richer contracts, making Cams contract look reasonable by comparison. It's the nature of the business.

There no way Gettleman going to give Cam a contract like that unless he takes us to the Super Bowl period. Cam has one playoff game in three seasons. He going to land more so in the Culter contract range if he continue what he doing now & don't take his play to the next level.

it'll be expensive now but if we sign him to a longterm deal in a couple years it'll be outdone by others like luck or Wilson. IMO theres no way we don't pay cam. no one wants to go back to qb's like clausen. qb's IMO are the hardest thing to get. most don't get traded or cut. you usually have to draft them. we got our franchise guy that is improving every year. lock him up.
