Rams will no doubt take a safety but this is apparently a weak class, so chances are it will be (again) in the 3rd round or so.

How do you see safety this year?

Meaning, beyond Clinton-Dix and Pryor.

Will they just be drafting for depth and stuck with McCleod again?

Or are there possibilities for year 1 starters in rounds 3 and 4?

Hash it out. The more opinions the better.

Jimmie Ward and LaMarcus Joyner are my two favorites. Not a fan of Clinton-Dix. Pryor has talent but he's very reckless and a top 20 pick is too rich for my blood.

You're going to have to overdraft for a conventional FS in this class, whether it's Clinton-Dix, Pryor, Ward, etc...

I'm more intrigued by the amount of CB's in this class that could be converted to FS and be effective...

Personally, I think EJ Gaines would be better off at FS.

I'd rather draft LaMarcus Joyner and put him as a FS. Man, I really wanted Tyrann Mathieu last year Crying or Very sad

Agree with this almost exactly except I'm not as down on Dix as you. Wouldn't be thrilled with him at #13, but wouldn't be pissed either.

I am down on Pryor though.

So it IS a weak class, just like they say.

That's what I'm getting.

Certainly relatively weak if you need one to start for you this season, which is what we need.

Though I can see 3 safeties getting taken in the first this year, I'd imagine that is higher then the average.

Weak for what we need. A FS.

Although I guess it depends on how you see the possible CB converts like SJB, McGill, Purifoy, Hampton, Gaines, etc.

So who is left over to pick at safety now?

BTW I don't worry about safety with these guys. They will find someone they can train to their specs.

In 2000, the Fisher/Wms. defense was ranked 1st in the league. 1st in yards, 2nd in points, 1st in yards passing, 3rd in yards rushing.

And their starting safeties were:

SS Blaine Bishop: 5'9, 197, 8th round pick

FS Marcus Robertson, 5'11, 198, 4th round pick.

What is the word on Griffin possibly being cut? I had heard that earlier in the offseason and thought that would be a perfect fit for us with Fisher. Otherwise, my last 2 hopes for a starting FS in this draft is Joyner or Brooks. Not sure anyone else would be an improvement over what we already have.
