Used fanspeak draft simulator with walter football draft rankings. Here is what I came up with:

20
DT RA'SHEDE HAGEMAN
MINNESOTA
52
S DEONE BUCANNON
WASHINGTON STATE
84
LB CHRISTIAN JONES
FLORIDA STATE
120
DE MARCUS SMITH
LOUISVILLE
160
WR JOSH HUFF
OREGON
196
DE LARRY WEBSTER
BLOOMSBURG

Thoughts and grades?

That's a solid draft. I'm not to high on Hageman but you can't deny the physical talent is there, he's a perfect fit as a 3-4 DE and he won't be pressured to start right away. Campbell and Dockett would be two good mentors for him too.

The rest of the draft is really good. Would be great if Webster transitions to TE rather than DE otherwise this is too many pass rushers in one draft.

Thats a pretty good draft Diehardcard

Solid if not spectacular

I liove the first 4 picks (especially FSU Jones), though no OL at all is a bit rough, but i can see that happening, even though i personally think they are needs

The biggest issue I have is you have taken three EDGE guys in Jones, Smith and Webster. I guess Jones could be a hybrid ILB/OLB or even just inside, and a late pick that has big upside is worth a shot.

Love Hageman in one.

Would be interesting to see reactions if we went back to back to back to back defense to start the draft.

What do you love about Hageman? Just curious because when I watch his tape I see a lot of potential but 4 very big problems several times over

1. very inconsistent motor
2. poor technique against double teams
3. Has trouble finding the ball in the run game
4. No secondary moves as a pass rusher

Great first step, great speed to power. Penetrator. Splits double teams well. Motor is always on.

Biggest issue is his tendency to come off the snap upright at times. I see him as a combo of what Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett bring to the table. A guy with the first step, quickness and penetration skills of Darnell, but the power and vicious hands of Calais.

DL is a spot where you can win with strength and athleticism. Add a bit of coaching in there and you can create a monster with Hageman.

Watch JJ Watt and he does the same thing on most snaps. OL just cannot stop it. I see Hageman as having that sort of upside.

I agree with the above post

He is a mix of them both

If he played for Bama he would be talked about as top 5

His motor is not always on. There is a clear lack of effort in his pursuit of the ball carrier and fighting off double teams when he doesn't get that immediate penetration. He doesn't finish plays and gang tackle every opportunity he gets. He has this reputation for playing with an aggressive attitude but you simply don't see it on every play. He is a great penetrator and makes it look easy at times but he also has an elite physical skill set and he should be doing it way more often. I have a feeling he won't be as coachable as you think. He's had those technique issues for awhile and they haven't improved over his college career as much as they should have. He doesn't seem to have an appreciation for learning the finer parts of the game. Listen to his interviews. He seems to relish being that very physical and angry player but football requires an intellectual approach and dedication to learning the finer parts of the game that he's not showing.

Watt put up noticeably better numbers than Hageman and never had issues with his motor running hot and cold.

Personally I don't see the lack of effort. To me he is a high motor guy

Don't have the time to do a film breakdown but here's a pretty good breakdown that points out some of the things I'm seeing.

And I still disagree that he has a low motor
