He was actually a very solid 3rd TE/Blocking specialist for us last season, played 21.6% of the snaps.

He has no receiving ability but he can contribute as a blocker well.

He was ranked 4th overall in pass blocking efficiency of all TEs last season.

McClellin is simply not very good. He is not big enough or strong enough to play at the NFL level. The Bears should move on.

So he's an upgraded Steve Maneri? That has value. Still like to see us add another TE with receiving upside though.

This is Fendi's year, obviously!

Brining in a blocking specialist gives us the ability to bypass a TE early in the draft and take a guy who offers a flex option to compliment Bennett & Mulligan…maybe even Colt Lyerla very late or guys like Richard Rodgers, Blake Annen or A.C. Leonard…if we could find a Jordan Reed type this offence would be unstoppable.

Yea looks like Maneri 2.0. Valuable commodity in my eyes but, like others, would still like to see another TE who can be a receiving factor. Colt Lyerla is my late round man crush (Kyle Long could be a great mentor for him, too).

This offense is another playmaking TE and a Sproles/Vereen-style wheelhouse HB away from GOAT status.

A good blocking TE means less time that Eben Britton has to play.

My thoughts exactly. The opponent will actually have to assign a defender to Mulligan.

Also wouldn’t shock me to see Britton getting a chance to compete for the starting role at RT this year as well…the more competition for places we can generate the better this team will be.
