My only question with Fuller was speed, and he answered that at the combine.

I think he is big, physical and versatile and while I do not think he is a steal at 14 if we took him I would golf clap and know our defense got better.

I know people love Dennard, but I do not know if he has the speed to stay with elite NFL speed. He bullied Big 10 WRs who did not have the speed to punish him when he missed the jam at the line.

RT @BradBiggs: Virginia Tech CB Kyle Fuller is visiting #Bears today at Halas Hall per NFL source

Nice find, thanks!

This begs the question: Has Phil Emery ever brought in his eventual first round draft pick into Halas Hall for a visit?

I know he did with Alshon Jeffery and Evan Rodriguez, to name a few, but they obviously weren't first rounders.
Kyle Fuller is a 2nd round talent. He's moved up boards during the predraft "don't believe anything you hear" time.

Not true. Dane Brugler from CBS has long had him as his top CB.
Ok so one person then? For the last 6 months this guy is a fringe top 50 guy. Then he has an ok offseason. Runs a 4.5 which is fine, it's how he plays but how does that jump you up most peoples boards? Because all the "internet" guys are hearing from there "sources" that he's a first rounder. To bad all these sources do is lie this time of year.

And had you read the post under mine, Mayock has him #2.

By no means would I back the selection of Kyle Fuller at 14, but if Emery trades back- maybe with SF or CLE- then I wouldn't hate the pick.
He has him #2 now. Mayock also takes scouts opinions into account when doing his big boards. Everyone does. That's why you see so many changes and significant changes the day of and days before the actual draft.

No offense DM but I'm going with Mayock Laughing
I would too if I were you. I just don't think he's our type of guy and I don't see him being worth a 1st for us right now. I think we have much bigger needs at UT, S and even DE. I'm all for a CB but I think he's a big reach at #14. There's 14 better players in this draft.

I agree he's not a top 15 prospect but I disagree that he's our type of guy. I think his skill set is pretty similar to that of Tillman actually and he was an early 2. I think that's probably about where Fuller belongs too.
You could say his skillset is similar to lots of guys though. Tillman sure. Jordan Poyer from last year too though.

Didn't they both run right around a 4.5?

According to Nfl.com Fuller ran a 4.49 and Dennard ran a 4.51. Either way they're both great players.

I like Fuller at nickle because he hits like a LB.

We are in nickle a lot and having a NB that can physically play the run is an asset considering Green Bay and Detroit spread us out and run at the depleted box.

I also like him because he can kick outside and we can move Jennings inside if we are playing a team that likes to go big on the outside.

I would not feel like I am robbing anyone if we took Fuller in the 1st, but I would be secure in the fact that we got our guy.

I meant more from watching them play.

Maybe it was that Dennard simply bullied them too much, but I always wanted to see his recovery speed against elite WRs. I would love to see him against a Odell Beckham type guy who would test your ability to bail and recover.

I think our defense gets better with Dennard or Fuller. To me they are very similar skill sets and both are consistent producers.

As long as we get a steal in the first, I am good with moving up in the second to assure we get one of the second-tier DB's, if necessary.

No way I would say that Fuller is clearly faster on the field. Also how can you say watching them play and confirmed at the combine? Those are opposites.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2014meetingsprospects.php

sorry if this is promoted, if it is you can edit, but this site shows who has met with what teams and under what circumstances. the Bears have been linked to the following players

Walt Aikens, DB, Liberty- private workout
Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson- met at senior bowl
Xavius Boyd, LB, Western Kentucky - shown interest
Deone Bucannon, DB, Washington State- private workout
Aaron Donald, DL, Pittsburgh - combine meeting
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, OT, McGill- shown interest
Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech- private workout
Marqueston Huff, DB, Wyoming- pro day meeting
Gabe Ikard, OL, Oklahoma- combine meeting
Jordan Lynch, QB, Northern Illinois - combine meeting
De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon- Private workout

I would love a draft like this

1st- donald
2nd- buchannon
3rd- phillip gaines/pierre desir (whoever is available)
4th- huff ( i really like this kid as a future FS)
5th- Thomas
6th- jonathan brown
6th- lynch

very wishful thinking...which is why i would love it.

I asked this before and never got an answer, but why did Tajh Boyd fade out of relevance? I remember him being regarded as a round 1-2 pick in the preseason.

He looked terrible against Florida State (17/37 for 156 yards, 1 TD, 2 Picks and a lost fumble) and South Carolina (19/27 for 225 yards, 0 TD, 2 picks, lost fumble).

I think the biggest concerns are inconsistency, especially against top college level talent, and an inaccurate arm.

also his size isnt great, and he is just too inaccurate and lacks top arm strength. he was able to mask some of these deficiencies with his supporting cast. At one point he had both Watkins and Deandre Hopkins to throw too. I would look like a 1st rounder throwing to those two.

Quote:
Boston College CB Al Louis-Jean worked out for the Bears and Patriots last week.

Louis-Jean (6-foot-1 3/8, 187 pounds) ran a 4.68 second forty against the wind and a 4.53 second time with the wind. The latter number isn't terribly impressive when you consider he was on FieldTurf and had 10-15 mile-per-hour gusts behind him. NFL.com's Gil Brandt says Louis-Jean is merely a free-agent pickup possibility
