Yeah I'm not going to really grade him on his literary proficiency, but the way I took was him saying that he would never replicate the success he once had here (hence why the FO wanted to move on), but still wanted to retire a Bear.

EDIT: And to take it a step further, and this is all speculative, maybe his heart really isn't going to be in the game this year. I wouldn't completely rule out a Kreutz-esque mid TC retirement. It would be dumb for him to do so I think, but not totally surprising.

Obviously, the U was not going to grade him on his literary proficiency, either! Makes on wonder what the criteria was that got him admitted....Sports? Other?

That's a really good question....probably sports. You knew he wasnt going to be quite after a few emotion breakdowns he's had in the past. The most recent one that still makes me laugh is him crying when Lovie got fired.

Bears third preseason game is at seattle. Should be a nice test.

@djdurkin: as @Jason_OTC brought to my attention, looks like eric weems took a $270K paycut. original was $1M, now $730K #bears

I was wondering why it was taking so long to cut him after it was reported that he rejected the cut...taking the cut and staying on the roster makes a lot of sense for him.

Where would his 6'3, 225 pound frame fit in this defense?

Maybe SS. I don't think he's a fit at all.

Beasley is a 34 olb, and isn't even in this draft, he went back to school...

Dan Durkin is a guy every Bears fan needs to follow on Twitter. Probably more so than Biggs or Dickerson. Very informative posts for people who closely follow the team.

He was most likely watching the Clemson Spring game, so he was literally commenting on the fact that he looked good as he was watching him play.

I follow all of them, plus Zaidman, plus the Bears official account, plus MCW, plus some others. Basically every time the Bears have a presser I get the same tweet like 7 times. Durkin does more analytical type stuff than the beat reporters though. Smart guy.

This.

Also he could get bigger. He looked bigger then 225 today.

I don't remember if it was Mark Bradley or Iglesias, but there was a story about during one training camp. (this is paraphrased) Cutler completed a pass to one of them and they celebrated and pumped their fists and yelled. Cutler ran over, grabbed them by the collar, and said "it's training camp and you've accomplished nothing; get your @$$ back to the huddle."
