Just finished my 2nd GM mock of the year. This started before Jackson was released, so I traded him. That throws off the realism a bit.

Trades
Eagles trade WR Desean Jackson and pick #122 to the Oakland Raiders for S Tyvon Branch, pick #107 and pick #188

22- Odell Beckham Jr. WR LSU

EaglesPeteC wrote:
Beckham is a game breaker to replace the recently traded Desean Jackson. Beckham is only a touch slower than Jackson (.05 secs apart in their 40 time) but is 3in taller and outweigh's Jackson by 25lbs. He is stronger on inside routes and the red zone and is a better jumper. He will also bring a dynamic return element to the team.

54- Marcus Smith DE/OLB Louisville
Quote:
The Eagles greatest need at this point is Pass Rush. Smith is the most natural 3-4 pass rusher on the board and will have an impact year one as a situational pass rusher. He will eventually take over for Trent Cole.

86- Justin Ellis NT LA Tech

Quote:
In the playoff game against the Saints, the Eagles got the ball run down their throats. Ellis gives the birds a true NT with size to rotate in who has the movement skills to make some plays. The Eagles now have a scary, young 5 man d-line rotation with Fletcher Cox, Cedric Thornton, Bennie Logan, Vinny Curry and now Ellis.

107- Walt Aikens CB Liberty

Quote:
A 6'1 CB with speed, this small school prospect is the prototype Chip looks for. He is great CB depth and has starter potential.

161- Spencer Long G Nebraska

This might be a controversial pick because Long suffered a season ending injury this season. This could wind up being the steal of the draft because without the injury he is a top 100 pick easily. He can start on the PUP list and maybe IR year 1 but with 2 aging guards Long can step in and take over one of those spots for years to come.

188- Matt Hazel WR Costal Carolina

Quote:
Being compared to Cecil Shorts, Hazel has good spread and great movement skills for a bigger WR. He could come in and compete for the 4th WR spot.

237- Michael Sam DE/OLB Missouri

Quote:
In the 7th, I couldn't pass up this pass rush production. Cole and Graham are likely gone in 2015. It makes sense to take two OLB's. Sam will fill the Brandon Graham role as the 3rd down pass rusher

Solid mock, hits all the positional needs.

Would suggest resizing the pictures though.

Not a big fan of Sam in our scheme and Justin Ellis in the third is too early for my taste

Not a fan of the scheme fit either but if he can give 5-10 pass rushing snaps a game that is worth a 7th.

All of the projections and other mocks I've done have Ellis right around there. To each his own I guess.

Why was DeSean traded for a bag of peanuts?
Just because they got rid of him IRL doesn't mean you have to take a poop deal to get rid of him here.

Beckham's aight.
Smith I can get behind.
Good to get someone rotating with Bennie.
Aikens...eh, I just feel like in the 4th there's someone better available.
Long, know nothing about.
I really like Hazel.
In the 7th Sam is a good flier.

For reference the 4th round CB's that went after Aikens were:
Ross Cockrell
Victor Hampton
Rashaad Renyolds

I can see an argument for Cockrell. Hampton has a ton of off the field stuff and is more of a FS or NB guy. Renyolds I have a 5-6 round grade on.

I don't like Smith and I REALLY don't like Odell Beckham Jr.

ODJ is my 10th rated WR in this draft.

Curious to know what makes you so down on him.

While he's Agile, he is one of the least physical receivers in this class. He has OK speed but lacks break away speed.

Best case scenario for him is Greg Jennings.

Reynolds is a lot like Carey and Watkins.
I would have taken him.
I would still have taken Hampton over Aikens, too.

The draft isn't bad, but I would like to see which WR's were available where you took receivers. (Cooks? Norwood?) That's what I'm looking to see.

Great trade, lol.
