Shocked talk about adding some size to the offense

If we draft ASJ do we cut Celek? The only thing that worries me is his foot problems. Didn't he have issues with it before he had to sit out of the combine?

I'm fine with everything except Matthews. I'd take either Attoachu or Smith with that first pick, and then a safety in Clarke's spot. Or, I'd swap that by taking LaMarcus Joyner and a guy like Clarke.

Matthews is a decent pick, not my favorite, but decent.

Sefarian-Jenkins is a waste.
I can't begin to tell you how bad that pick is.
Ertz is young. Celek is solid.
This move reeks of panic.

More panic in the 3rd.
The Eagles aren't going to become the Broncos overnight ..... or ever.
They've assembled some receivers for their system.
They could use some help, but this is not the discount corps Reid tried to pass off (Johnson and Small).
One WR early and maybe one late if there is a player.
This is not a knock on Bryant.

The draft does get better.
I like Clarke.

I think my feelings on Bucannon are known.
But, it is entirely possible that the Eagles go in a different direction or he's gone.
If that is the case I'd be fine with Johnson.

Brown seems to be rising and if he's around in the 5th he could contribute.
However, he is more developmental than impact.
They already have a guy developing in that role in Knott.
Add Phillips, Kaddu, Acho and Goode and I don't know that the Eagles are desperate there just yet.
Somebody is bound to perform.

Kerr is a big "whatever."
I don't see Kelly buying off-brand players.
He may.
There isn't that much to go on.
I don't hate the pick.

Why would we throw bryce brown into that trade for free?

The Texans have the first pick of the 3rd round, so it would actually be us trying to even out the deal.

I think the trade is barely fair with them just giving us the first and second. Teams trading back up for qbs usually give up more than even that.

So throwing in Bryce makes no sense.

They didn't give us a first and second, they gave us a high 2nd and high 3rd for our mid-late 1st, i.e. we are getting the first pick of the 3rd round for a team to move up 11 spots. Brown doesn't have much convertible value and probably won't make the team.

I think you are misconstruing taking BPA with "panic." ASJ is going to drop because of a stress fracture in his foot, but he is easily one of the most talented players available in this draft. Any other year and a player like him wouldn't make it out of the first round, even with the injury. I love Celek and Ertz, ASJ is a different breed and I could see them all on the field together.

I agree that taking another WR later would be the better strategy, and I personally would rather we went defense with our 3rd and take Josh Huff late, but I don't think that's what the Eagles will do. They proved last year that they are committed to taking BPA, and if a 6'4" WR that runs a 4.45 and played big time football makes it to the 3rd round, they will be all over it.

offense first 3 picks? No thanks.

Did I solve any defensive needs with the players chosen?

No. Clarke is going to be a project at olb. Dontae Johnson is Taylor Mays 2.0 without the hard hits. Preston Brown is a depth guy, not a guy you want to start. Zach Kerr is also a depth guy who will need time to adjust to the step up in competition. And Martavis Bryant is not very good at all. We don't need Stephen Hills less agile clone. ASJ doesn't make much sense. TE isn't even a top 10 need.

lol ok, we all have our opinions...

ASJ would be BPA at that spot, so yes he does make sense. The Eagles have shown interest in Johnson, Clarke and Kerr. And don't forget, Stephen Hill was a first round pick, I have us getting Bryant in the 3rd. I also wasn't aware that there were guys we could take outside of the 1st and 2nd round that could start at MLB, please digress. Kerr can compete with Bennie Logan for starting time.

Yeah, relying on mid round picks to solve the defensive problems is solid.

I wouldn't mind it so much, but there's no reason at all to go TE in the 2nd round.
