Josh Gor....n/m

Basically, we traded Julio Jones and Justin Houston for Phil Taylor, Greg Little, Owen Marecic, Brandon Weeden and JMJ.

I have to think that his control was limited in that draft. The Richardson and Weeden picks reek of Holmgren stepping in and trying to save everyone's jobs by going full win now mode.

Weeden yes, but I think Heckert was all in on TRich.

Simply a completely uneducated guess though.

This is why trading down is bad usually. Its so much easier to hit on one player than it is on 4-5.

I don't necessarily agree. When you look at the picks sent from us, Justin Houston, Blair Walsh, etc. it's from situations where we traded picks away to move back up. We never should have traded up for Richardson. I like Taylor, but we shouldn't have given up additional picks to move up a few spots to take him.

When you look at the picks we actually made, I can remember matter of factly that I was pissed when we spent a 4th round draft pick on Marecic. I remember how livid I was when we drafted Weeden, and, of course being a Browns fan, after I let it simmer some, I tried to convince myself "maybe these guys know more than me?". I liked Greg Little a lot coming into the league, I felt he had Anquan Boldin written all over him. He has moments where he amazes, and he has many more wtf moments.

It's all about how well you draft. There are plenty of teams that maneuver to get more picks and do a hell of a job with them. Look at Seattle for example.

look at the 2009 draft. we have picks 36, 50 and 52 in the draft. We take Robiskie, Massaquoi and Veikune in the draft. Picked 42 was Jairus Byrd, pick 51 was Andy Levitre, pick 53 was Lesean McCoy. Also in there was Max Unger. We had a prime opportunity to get some solid players, and instead we got three guys who are gone, and weren't much while they were here
