Been reading quite a few speculators articles saying that the new ownership in TB may be looking to get Revis off the books in the next week before they owe him a bonus and the 4th rounder they owe the Jets becomes a 3rd rounder. In Ben Volin's article (on mobile so can't post link, think it's in the globe) he was pointing out that with some contract maneuvering and putting a lot of money into bonuses, Revis' cap hit could end up only being 8 mil, the same figure as Grimes and likely the same for Talib. Do you think it would be worth throwing a 2nd rounder maybe plus a future late pick to snag Revis? I certainly do. I also wanted to see what you guys thought of the feasibility of it all.

Volin did a whole lot of sugarcoating on that contract. For each season Revis plays, he's going to cost $16M. You can push a lot of it back into future years and that is generally helpful, but $16M is $16M, and that's too much regardless of when it's hitting the cap.

Right, unless he is willing to take a pay cut (and that seems unlikely based on how he's presented himself over the years), they're stuck paying him the equivalent of $16M for every season he's there.

Id think that for the Patriots to be interested, Revis would have to be willing to make less than Brady. I would imagine he would need to shave about $2M off... unlikely.
