You can designate a player to be a June 1 cut in march and cut him on the spot for savings now.

I am of the understanding that you can designate him but you can't use that money until after 6/1. Might be wrong though.

You do realize cutting him after 6/1 saves us 8 mil - right? Does it help with FA? Not really. However it does give you the money to sign draft picks and extend guys like Cam and Cortez. That money has to come from somewhere.

And we will still have to pay him a ton of dead money next offseason, so it wouldnt be a huge relief going forward.

Cam still has 2 years. We can extend him next year after we see he is the real deal.

Allen should be cheap at this point. If he wants more than we can afford, wait until next offseason.

Releasing Woodley this offseason does more harm than good.

Ok - so we shouldn't be excited enough to pay Jason 6 per year. Did you watch him last year? Did you see his array of pass rush moves? The speed, spin, rip, speed to cross face? The guy never got to play his natural position. If you think Woodley is a better pass rush OLB prospect than Worilds...well, I can't help you. Yes, Woodely has done it for a few years at a high level. Unfortunately, that was 2 years ago. Two years where he can't stay on the field due to soft tissue injuries. Ones that can be prevented.

Yes...so lets overpay a guy who has had one good year, still sucks against the run and disappeared at crucial times in several games this year. Much better idea.

Oh...and for the first 6 games, Woodley was just as good at pass rushing as Worlids was at any point this year.

Worlids isnt any safer a bet than Woodley is going forward. All cutting Woodley does is kill our depth at LB, essentially hands the job to Worlids who doesnt deserve any job handed to him, and forces Jones to start when he looked horrible rushing the passer last year.

At least keeping Woodley another year allows us to see what we have in Jones and pushes Worlids to keep his game up. As opposed to giving us a bit of cap relief after the FA period has ended.

If he is on the board, I'd be really surprised to see Kelvin Beachum get passed on.

Yeah....Id love to see our current LT playing WR.

At least he would be a good blocker. Cool

LOL I meant Benjamin...that would be interseting though wouldnt it? To see Beachum playing WR. Hopefully, they only do that during preseason.

I like Mike Evans from Texas A&M as well.
