Congrats to Rivers, but Jason Peters deserve this a lot more than he did. Coming back from 2 achilles tendon tear to becoming a All-Pro is much more impressive than Rivers season. I honestly thought he was done for and never going to play again.

What exactly is it that Rivers was "coming back" from this year? Is it just simply that he had a bad year last year, followed up by this good year? I don't think I remember him having a bad injury last year. Maybe I'm wrong and just don't remember. But if it's just like I said, that he followed up a bad year with a good year, then I don't understand this whole "Comeback Player of the Year" award at all..

He came back from Norv Turner. I seriously don't wish that man as head coach for any team.

Mainly because people said Rivers sucked but in all honesty, he was basically putting up stats the Eli put up in his best years and Eli was still hailed as a top 10 QB while Rivers was said to be completely done.

Exactly. You put it in better words, thanks.

The media pays no attention if Eli and Ben have mediocre years but Rivers has a couple and all of a sudden hes dropping in the 15-20 range in QB rankings while Eli & Ben are seen as top 10 locks lol.

Wasn't long ago that I saw Rivers behind guys like Stafford, Luck, RG3, Smith, Vick in rankings on these boards due to the general consensus that Rivers was "done" after putting up Eli type of stats yet Eli was in the same top 10 of those rankings. Laughing

Not sure what metric they could have used OTHER than QBR, so with that said, I feel kind of cheated as a Steeler fan that Ben didn't win this award twice: Laughing Laughing

Once in 2007, and again in 2009--

2006 QBR = 75.4; 2007 QBR = 104.1

2008 QBR = 80.1; 2009 QBR = 100.5

Pretty much did the same thing! And not only that, Ben also keeps coming back from self-inflicted "wounds"!

It really is too bad they didn't give this award to someone REALLY deserving as it truly can be seen as a back-handed compliment to Rivers.

Should have been Rodgers coming back from his collarbone. Would have been 2 Packers over Chargers wins.

What? No, an in-season injury that caused you to miss a few games is not what this award is supposed to be about. Jason Peters would be an excellent choice. So would Daryl Smith. Rivers was a poor selection IMO.

A poor year. Should be Jason Peters

Not a bad choice. But I probably would've voted for Brent Grimes or Jason Peters instead. Still, as I said, it is far from the worst choice they could've made.

He went back to playing at an elite level after two seasons of mediocrity.

This award has always been surrounded by lack of clarity what exactly a "Comeback" entails. I'd probably prefer it to be split into two separate awards personally - Re-surging Player of the Year (a player who puts together an elite season after dropping from elite status), and Comeback Player of the Year (a player coming back after severe adversity - whether it be injury, being out of the league for whatever reason, etc).

I guess Brady better start making some space on his trophy case for this award next season.

I'll put my head up and eat crow. I thought his arm had gone, and that he would be consistently a relatively high INT guy going forward.

I was gonna say. Rodgers missed what? 6-7 games? Laughing

I don't get why Rivers won the award, considering he wasn't awful last year.

I would have gave it to either Ryan Matthews or Jason Peters. I didn't follow much of Daryl Smith this year, so I didn't include him.

Yea it should've been Jason Peters it's always real tough for lineman to come back from achillies/knee injuries but he came back from two. Hoping Vince can have a similar return.
