Turner on why Minn "I have a background with Rick Spielman. I looked at the roster. This group can be good. It can be real good real fast."

Edwards says they are still evaluating players. No lean yet on the big 3-4 / 4-3 decision. #Vikings

If Priefer is found to have said that stuff, who would be the backup for the special teams coach?

Interesting to see lil' Norv as QB coach and lil' Zim as LB coach (the "QB" of the defense).

So are lil' Norv and lil' Zim being groomed for OC and DC? Do we have a coaching dynasty in the making? Spielman/Parcells said he liked to hire coaches that had a parent coach.

Think

Interesting. It's nice to have a coach that's willing to fit the system to the players they have instead of force fitting everyone into their stupid Tampa-2 defense.

HC: Scott Turner
DC: Adam Zimmer
OC: Klint Kubiak

Went with an offensive head coach because we have two sons of coaches on the offensive side of the ball.

Can someone please explain to me what a "quality control" coach does?

I've seen that label on several coaches lately and I'm curious what they do.

Interesting that the QC coaches are also WR and DB assistants. Is there a connection there?

They do a lot of the dirty work for the position coaches and coordinators.

Quality control coaches, not sure if the article mentioned this, also do a lot of self scouting to make sure that we are not developing any tendencies that an opponent can key in to.

The fact that he coached HOF players and those defensive lines performed worse under his tenure than at other parts of their careers is what concerns me.

? According to FootballOutsiders, the 2 years he was here were the best 2. They were #24 and #11 the 2 years before and #26 and #29 the 2 years after...the 2 years he was there? #9 and #6.

Happy to see Jeff Davidson return. Also very happy to see Jerry Gray come aboard. Had Tennessee's entire staff not gotten wiped I think he'd still be a DC. Good at overseeing individual player development.

Zimmer kept seven coaches from the previous staff – Priefer, Davidson, Ficken, Howard, Kubiak, Stefanski and Stewart, although some of them were given different duties.

Kubiak, son of former Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak, joins quarterbacks coach Scott Turner and linebackers coach Adam Zimmer on the coaching staff, giving the Vikings three sons of current or former head coaches.

Norv Turner: "When you get in the meetings and go in coaching, [Scott's] just another coach. We're working hard to do the things we need to do to have the type of team everyone wants."

The notion of the first-round franchise quarterback as a necessity has become popular, but the two best teams in the NFL, Seattle and San Francisco, each found an unconventional quarterback without using a first-round pick, and each has built a powerhouse without relying on a new-age passing offense.

Norv Turner: “The guys I’ve been around that are so-called franchise quarterbacks weren’t considered franchise quarterbacks until they started winning. You’ve got to get a guy that everybody believes in and put good people around them and find out how far you can go. I was with Brad Johnson in Washington. We went to the playoffs and won the division, and the owner was convinced he couldn’t win a Super Bowl, so we let him go. He went to Tampa, and the next year he won a Super Bowl. The one thing that has been proved, and you go back to Sunday’s game [with Russell Wilson] — quarterbacks come from a lot of spots. A third-rounder wins the Super Bowl, and there were a lot of good players that weren’t drafted high.”
