One of the selling points on a coach like Norv Turner is how his former players react to his leaving. Browns Nation wasn’t shedding too many tears that head coach Rob Chudzinski was fired, but the reaction to Turner leaving has been vocal. In New York for Super Bowl festivities, wide receiver Josh Gordon, who put up monster numbers in Turner’s offense despite being double-teamed consistently and going through a revolving door at QB after returning from a two-game suspension, didn’t mince words.

Gordon: “You can’t replace Norv Turner. That’s a legendary Hall of Fame coach. If the new offense is the same offense, heck, we’d be lucky to have it.”

I wonder what it would cost to acquire Josh Gordon. Id love him paired with Patterson. Granted they wont shop him, it seems obvious that Turner had a profound impact on his development. I hope we can see the same for Patterson, though, I dont think Patterson will develop into that type of receiver. I see Patterson as more of a complimentary intermediate and short area piece that takes advantage of the open space created from a big time vertical threat.

It would probably cost a 1st, or maybe a 2nd+.

Any rumors on linebacker coaches for the Vikings? I'm ready to see this staff Zimmer has put together.

Well I would guess that George Edwards will have quite a bit to do with the linebackers. But maybe officially it will be Adam Zimmer? I'm pretty sure he has been as assistant linebackers coach at some point in his career.

Lil Zim worked with backers in New Orleans and Kansas City.

I think it would cost a 1st round pick plus for Josh Gordon.

The Seahawks paid a 1st, a 3rd and a 7th for Harvin. Gordon is a top-5 WR in my opinion. He will command a 1st+, at the least (nor do I see the Browns parting with their bona fide stud).

If we could move back in the 1st and acquire a 2nd, I'd be all in for grabbing Allen Robinson in the 2nd.

Agreed. The Harvin trade would be the starting point, and I don't think it would be enough. As a pure receiver, Gordon is on a whole different level than Harvin. Cleveland would be crazy to trade him for anything less than a 1st, 2nd and additional consideration.

With no OC jobs available can anyone see chud being brought in as the TE coach?

i'll make a guess given the last couple of assistant hires that Zimmer goes back to his college coaching history and brings in someone he's known for 20 years and trusts.

Mike Zimmer was hired as the head coach for the Minnesota Vikings on January 15th, 2014. Since then, 20 days have passed with nothing more than a rumor surrounding the rest of the Vikings coaching staff heading into next season. We think that Norv Turner will be the team's offensive coordinator. We've heard that George Edwards is a likely candidate to land the defensive coordinator spot. And it appears as if the team will be retaining Jeff Davidson and Mike Priefer from last year's squad. But still nothing has been confirmed (or denied) from the Vikings camp.

Rest assured Vikings fans, all of that may soon change. In fact, don't be surprised if we start to hear official announcements as early as today, Wednesday, February 5th.

It's been speculated that the hang up surrounding the official hiring of Norv Turner and the rest of Mike Zimmer's coaching staff could have something to do with the internal Priefer/Kluwe investigation that's currently funneling its way through the organization. Realistically, the hang up likely surrounds Wednesday's scheduled National Signing Day for college recruits and the NCAA.

I was a little puzzled at the Edwards hire, but after watching his interview, I don't like it at all. He couldn't tell what he wanted to do, responded only with platitudes so much that I thought he was part of a Frazier staff.

Of course, Zimmer will take care of the defense most of the time, but a good and strong DC with similar philosophy is still required.
