I'm not really sure what Peyton had done... But I had a spinal fusion and the process should be the same for the neck.

Essentially, they remove the jelly like discs that are herniated/causing pain/etc between your vertebrae and then put plastic spacers and titanium screws between the vertebrae to keep them aligned (and at the proper distance apart). They then use bone marrow to create a jelly like paste and create a hatch crossing of the past across the are to fuse everything together.
I had a 3-level lower back spinal fusion and my recover is approximately a year and a half. Of course, I won't go through NFL rehab, etc, etc.
BUT, being that it is in his neck, and fusion tends to limit your range of motion because you are turned several bones into one, Wilson may not have full range in his neck, even with rehab and therapy.

Move your arm around and bend it. Now imagine if your elbow wasn't there and instead it was all fused together as one bone. Your range of motion would be limited. You wouldn't even be able to bend it. The concept is essentially the same as a fusion.

His career is very much in jeopardy, but thats just my perspective.

They're both spinal fusions of the neck. Not sure if they're taking out the same vertebrae.

But the difference is Wilson is getting hit every time he carries the ball. Career over.

Lets not draft first round running backs please.
