I hope you don't mind, I edited your title to give credit where credit is due and for anyone who visits the forum to see exactly what this thread is.

One play, a strip-sack fumble for a safety. 5 hours later I'm still out of my mind thinking about how great it is that he eclipses two Colts franchise records with one of the rarest plays known in the NFL.

16.5 sacks on the season to break the previous record of 16 by Dwight Freeney in 2004
108 careers sacks as a Colt breaking Dwight Freeney's franchise record of 107.5 sacks.
42 career strip sacks adding to his NFL record.

Congrats Mathis

Hopefully you have a good 4-5 more productive years with us.

The 3-4 switch has been very good for Mathis, he is a beast either way though.

Really is crazy when you think about him passing Freeney, because Freeney was a beast.

Mathis was awarded the inaugural Deacon Jones award. Given to the NFL leader in QB sacks

Quote:
Indianapolis Colts linebacker Robert Mathsi won the inaugural Deacon Jones Award, given to the NFL leader in quarterback sacks.

Mathis led the NFL with 19.5 sacks and made the Pro Bowl as the Colts won the AFC SOuth.

“Deacon Jones is the creator of the sack so to be able to win the first award in his honor is an honor,” Mathis said. “I’m very proud that I was able to win it and I thank my teammates, mainly the d-line, who were very instrumental in helping me get to the quarterback. It’s a unit award, more so than an individual award.”

A Hall of Fame defensive lineman, Jones died on June 3 at age 74

I love the typos in this post. Mathsi, SOuth
