This week's games give the Broncos a chance to clinch a playoff spot.

Broncos clinch if (one of these happen):

Quote:
1) DEN win + SD loss or tie + TEN loss or tie + NYJ loss + BAL loss or
2) DEN win + SD loss or tie + TEN loss or tie + BAL/PIT tie or
3) DEN win + SD loss or tie + TEN loss or tie + MIA/NYJ tie or
4) DEN win + SD loss or tie + BAL/PIT tie + MIA/NYJ tie or
5) DEN win + TEN loss or tie + BAL/PIT tie + MIA/NYJ tie

An interesting playoff scenario is if Denver wins #1 seed. If that happens, then KC gets #5 seed and will likely face the Patriots in Foxboro.

Scenario 1, which is the only one which doesn't involve a tie, is fairly realistic.

Red hot Steelers beat Ravens

Red hot Bengals beat Chargers

Dolphins beat awful Jets

All it would require is Indy to stop impersonating the Jaguars and beat Tennessee

And us to win obviously.

Wait, why does it matter what Baltimore does?

They can't win the straight tiebreak with us, but since we're still to play Tennessee, it's not impossible there could be some kind of three team tiebreak that sees Baltimore beat us.

Wait, what? The only way KC as a 5 seed would go to New England(unless NE falls down to #4) would be if the 7-9/8-8 6th seeds can win in Cincinnati/Indianapolis

There is only one scenario I am in favor of. Finish 5-0 and try and find a way to convince the wife I need playoff tickets.

You're right. I put the odds of a Chiefs vs Patriots playoff game at about 30% now. I mentioned the possibility because it would be a great pairing.

Current seedings look like:
1: Denver Bronco
2: New England Patriots
3: Indianapolis Colts
4: Cincinnati Bengals
5: Kansas City Chiefs
6: Tennessee Titans

Wild card games would be #3 Colts vs #6 Titans and #4 Bengals vs #5 Chiefs. Titans' hold on a playoff seed looks shaky because they have a tough series of opponents coming up in the next month. I think that there is a good chance that Pittsburgh or San Diego grabs the #6 seed with an 8-8 record.

For the Chiefs to go to Foxboro, the #6 seed (Titans or Chargers or ...) beat the #3 seed so that they become the lowest winning seed and get paired with the Broncos. In addition, the Chiefs beat the #4 seed so that they become the highest winning seed and get paired with the #2 seed, the Patriots.

The one team I dont want to see Denver play in the playoffs is Cincy.

Hoping the Titans steal the 6 seed and the Pats somehow fall to third. I wanna see Pollard destroy the Patriots again.

Update:
If the nfl.com article was right, the Broncos haven't yet clinched a spot.
Without the scenarios involving ties, the blocking result was that BAL beat PIT.

Broncos won
SD lost (Bengals 17-10)
TEN lost (Colts 22-14)
NYJ lost (Miami 23-3)
BAL won (Steelers 20-22)

That's right, we're not confirmed yet, however next week against the Titans, it's completely in our hands. Win and we're in.

Denver is clearly in the playoffs, lol. The real debate is if the Broncos can be the #1 seed or not and I like our chances of winning out the regular season.

The real question at this point for the AFC playoffs is who wins the #6 seed? I thought it would be the Jets a few weeks ago but they look out of it. It is between the Steelers, Ravens, and Chargers right now at least in my opinion. I would like the Ravens to make it and I hope this team can face them again. It would be similar to the 1997 playoff run when they faced the Jaguars after getting upset by the Jaguars in the previous season. It is too bad we can't crush Ray Lewis this time.

Our game against the Chargers could be interesting if we're still banged up. Short week to boot!

The Broncos look headed for the #1 seed but to gain that, the team needs to finish better than the Patriots because if they tie with New England, the Broncos will get the #2 seed because the Patriots won the game and thus own the tie-breaker over the same win-loss record.

Remaining regular season games:
Broncos: TEN, SD, @HOU, @OAK
Patriots: @CLE, MIA, BAL, @BUF
Chiefs: @WAS, @OAK, IND, @SD

None of the four teams that the Broncos play in the next month have a winning record.
Win all four, and the Broncos get the top seeding and ensure home field. The Broncos control their playoff destiny. Probably 3 wins is enough. I hope that the final game at Oakland is meaningless, but, it could be critical.

For the AFC-West, any combination of 3 Bronco wins + Chief losses equates to winning the division. The Chiefs need to win all 4 of its games and the Broncos to lose at least 2 for the Chiefs to win the division and get the #1 seeding. Winning all 4 will be hard for the Chiefs because 3 games are on the road.
