Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson fourth in Pro Bowl voting, no Ndamukong Suh

Quote:
ALLEN PARK -- Calvin Johnson, as you might expect, is among the leaders in early Pro Bowl fan voting.

The star Detroit Lions receiver is fourth among all players with 449,346 votes, trailing just Peyton Manning (654,309), Drew Brees (540,036 votes) and Jamaal Charles (453,761).

That makes him the top vote-getter at receiver. Polling closes Dec. 26.

Quote:
No other Detroit players lead at their positions, including Pro Bowl candidates Ndamukong Suh, DeAndre Levy and Larry Warford.

VOTE NOW!

Who do you think deserves it? Do you think Stafford will make it?

GO VOTE!

Pro Bowl is a joke. Worst thing the NFL has not gotten rid of.

Make it a skills competition and call it a day

Agreed. It's painful to watch.

I would much prefer a skills competition.

However, my favorite moment ever in a pro bowl was when Sean Taylor blew up Brian Moorman.

I totally forgot about that hit so I had to look it up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTtOaDvf8co

It's amazing how Moorman gets up like nothing happened. That was a HUGE hit.

It's a joke, and I don't always go out of my way to watch it, but it is an extra football game at the end of the year just before a 7 month break. I think they should move it back after the SB though. They also need to put more on the line with it like the winner gets a check and the loser doesnt instead of a slight bonus for winning.

I do also think it is cool to have more members of the Lions selected. As for who deserves to go and who will is a totally different story.

Should:
Calvin
Stafford
Warford
Levy
Suh
Delmas

Who will go:
Calvin

Meh. Delmas has been solid this season, and it's great to see him healthy, but I wouldn't say he's playing at a Pro Bowl level.

You have to remember, there's no grouping based on division any more. Are we sure Stafford, for example, deserves to go over Peyton, Brees, Rivers, or Romo?

Or Delmas over Berry, Ihenacho, Earl Thomas, Eric Reid, or McCourty?

Calvin Levy and Suh definitely deserve in IMO. They've been among the best at their positions all year. Warford has been great but I don't pay enough attention to other teams' offensive lines to know where he ranks.

I think you could make a case for our entire offensive line except RT. Waddle just hasn't played enough there and he struggled for the first time last week.

There is no more AFC vs NFC? I must have missed that. That being said there still would be 6 QBs given 3 for each team and yes I think Stafford belongs in the top 6. I would also have him over Rivers and Romo in that list you gave.

Delmas has been better than people think this year. I don't think any of those others are playing much better if any. I think he has been a top 8 safety which is likely what will end up going, 4 for each team.

And I agree with Nnivolcm, the whole O line has been solid this year and deserves some recognition.

Stafford was on my ballot but barely, came down to him and Romo as the last QB and I chose Stafford but most would choose Romo. Stafford wouldn't be a "Snub" in my opinion and is borderline, could go either way.

Delmas has no business on any ballot and even as a Lions fan I can admit that. If any player in the Lions secondary deserves a vote it's Quin, not Delmas (and no I don't think Quin does)

CJ
Levy
Warford
Suh

are the only 4 in my opinion that unquestionably deserve to go and I'd go a step further and say all the should not only be going but should be starters.

Warford has been commended by multiple media outlets/sports talk personalities and is generally reviewed as playing at an elite level.

O-line is really dependent on name recognition/team success though because the casual fan doesn't tend to know much about o-lineman. Warford has a better chance of getting recognition when the AP All-Pro teams come out then he does at getting the pro bowl vote.
