After his recent struggles, it seems like his job is up in the air:

Quote:
With Garrett Hartley struggling, Saints worked out a group of kickers that included Derek Dimke, Shayne Graham and Neil Rackers.

To be honest, I'd like to bring in a solid guy like Graham for the rest of the season and get a new guy in the offseason!

I'd be all for it. I don't even care if he's not that good. If he can make 30-40 yarders with ANY consistency, he'd an upgrade.

Completely agree!

Saints need to cut Hartley... way to inconsistent for the money he's getting paid!

PS: There is however a guy making booming kicks from all distances in the Superdome by the name of Cairo Santos of Tulane, currently ranked the top college place kicker by many scouts. Could be had for a 5th or 6th rounder!

Don't forget, the only reason my man Matt Ryan has ever won in the superdome is because he missed a 29 yarder... Mwahahaha

Yeah he's inconsistent, if I were them I'd draft a new kicker in this draft

I doubt we'll find someone who was as reliable on 50+ yarders, but his inconsistency on run of the mill field goal attempts is ridiculous. Its a shame, because he was so clutch during our Superbowl run.

Hartley got hot in the 2009 playoffs, period! Yes, Hartley is a big reason we have a world championship but lets face facts... Hartley lost his job to Carney in the 2009 season and it was only a injury that allowed him to get on that Hot streak that has endured him to Sean Paytons heart.

Take away the 2009 playoffs and Superbowl, Hartley has been a average to below average kicker in the NFL. Now, I ask you... these days, you else gets a feeling like "man I hope Hartley don't screw this up" each and every time the dude steps out on the football field for a FG attempt?

I understand that Hartley went through some personal issues this offseason with his old lady basically leaving him at the alter for her old boyfriend but his inconsistency is much more deep rooted than just this season and now he's being paid like a top flight NFL kicker. If Sean Payton truly is focused on a production based roster, then he must get past the history of the 2009 playoffs when it comes to evaluating Garrett Hartley!

EVERY time Hartley lines up for a kick I'm holding my breath! 30 yarder? Oh god please don't shank.....Anything less than 40 should be damn near automatic for an NFL kicker.

Sean Payton needs to threaten Hartley with his job on a weekly basis! Laughing

Kudos to him, he stepped up big time today!
