With 2014 being the 4th year of the new CBA and that new 4-year/90%(might be 85, I forget) rule, with 50 mill in cap space (plus the obvious cuts), we may be in a situation that we're forced to spend money to meet the 4 year floor, depending on how exactly those 4 year numbers work out.

If that's the case, expect to see us bring in some bigger name free agents to fill a couple viods. And if we do that, that will basically will tip us fans off to who we're drafting (e.g. if we spend big on a LEO, it's obvious we're going after Teddy at #1, Mariota at #2, drop dime on the interior OL, we'll be focusing on weapons and defense with mid-round picks).

Players coming off the cap in 2014:
Quote:
Nate Stupar
Blaine Gabbert
Russell Allen
Geno Hayes
Chris Prosinski
Will Rackley
Stephen Burton
Cecil Shorts
Alan Ball
Mike Brewster
Jacques McClendon
Justin Forsett
Roy Miller
Ricky Stanzi
JT Thomas
Kerry Taylor
Stephen Williams

You figure in house talent, Shorts, Ball, Pros, and possibly Allen could all see extensions.

Players in 2013:
Quote:
Chad Henne
Maurice Jones-Drew
Sen'Derrick Marks
Brad Meester
Austin Pasztor
Taylor Price
Allen Reisner
Mike Brown
Will Ta'ufo'ou
Brandon Deaderick
Jordan Todman
Will Blackmon
Clay Harbor

In house talent, Marks, Pasztor, Blackmon could all see extensions.

And yes, you figure with the top heavy FA this year, we could see a large chunk of money spent on say a Michael Johnson who has the LEO look to his game.

The thing I came away when doing this is, Poz makes more alone than several position groups do combined.

I think MoJo's contract is wrong.

From my understanding, he's only at $4.95 mill base + $50k workout bonus (assuming with his injury, he got it). The reason for the mistake is that it was originally reported as a four-year extension for $30.95 million with 17.5 mill guaranteed. Instead, it turned out to be a brand new $30.95 year deal over 5 years, replacing the final year of his rookie deal. There was only 9 mill of guaranteed and the rest of that 17.5 was a fully guaranteed base salary for his first two years. Spotrac somehow altered all the numbers to extend the pricing of the wrong 4 year extension over 5 years, rather than reassigning the values as it should be. From my understanding, all his guaranteeds were off the book after year 3, which is why he held out last year, figuring that since his guaranteed were off the books, that he deserved to be re-upped.
