Honestly the best option might be to franchise him. We have the cap room next year. He'll be one more year removed from his back to back pec tears and hopefully will continue to improve in performance. We don't have to commit long term without seeing a larger sample size of his abilities and he gets a large 1 year contract with the opportunity to prove he's worth a long term deal. I think its best for both sides.

Great point. For some reason I hadn't thought of that. I like it. Great point Mknight82

Uhhh, $9 mil --NO! ,,No Thank you very much .. It's been real but that's not doable..Not in Cap range ..
We can however, make him a restricted free agent with a tender offer.. Then we'll get a pick if he gets an offer elsewhere.. We get right of first refusal or let him walk.

I dont think we can do that. I think that he has been in the league for 4 years and is past the status of RFA because his contract fell under the prior CBA. I am winging it at the moment, cause I have not looked into it, but I don't think that he will be a RFA.

KFFL has him as an UFA. So we can't do that.

You're right --Used to be the contract following the rookie deal but that has been phased out .. Bummer.

Only way you could be a RFA was if you had three season of experience. Once you got to four, you qualified (and still do qualify) for UFA. Didn't matter if it was your rookie deal or your second (or third) deal. All that mattered (and matters) was your experience in the league.
