Just depends. He probably doesnt have that much left on the tank, but hes gotta be at klast better than Dunta, right? I personally would take a shot and nab him for the the last half of the season and playoffs _________________

I'll pass. Great leader in the locker room, but he's lost a lot of his agility and pretty much all of his confidence on the field after being miscast for the last 2 seasons. Emmitt Thomas and Al Harris might be able to get some of that fierce, press mentality back for him, but unless it's for a veteran minimum deal that bumps Dunta Robinson from the roster (that would be worth the move in itself), I don't think it'd be worth signing him.
Pretty far past his prime at this point. _________________

As much as Dunta has struggled he seems too have really gelled with this roster. Watch the sideline at a big Defensive play, Dunta is the first 1 there to celebrate with him. While I don't see him here past this year, I dont want to mess with their chemistry.
Also I want to applaude Dunta on keeping his demotion on the DL, class act! _________________

he was decent to good for us. then he got hurt and brock stepped up and played well. we couldnt dress another corner who didnt play st. then we had injured guys come back. so we cut him. also let him get a shot for another team _________________ ***WE RUN THE WEST!***

SF's a bit more talent-rich than KC. Us cutting someone is often different than them cutting someone.
Wouldn't mind a try-out, have Sutton pick his mind a little. He can't be worse than Commings. _________________ [quote="aceinthehouse"]I personally do NOT think Lewis is the Greatest MLBer ever.

This is what I suspected, but hadn't watched enough 49ers to know better.
Is he really worse than Robinson, who doesn't play ST's either. Read the article on ESPN today about Robinson accepting his demotion, and while I applaud his attitude, might he want a chance somewhere else?
Regardless, the question should be is Scrabble better than Flowers, Smith, or Cooper, and I'd say probably not. Of course he did play safety in college, and given his struggles, maybe it's time he consider such a move, where speed isn't as big of an issue. So the question then would be is he better than Lewis or Abdullah? _________________

Plus have we all forgotten that Nnamdi was on the Eagles? Enjoying epic failure with the dream team? Why would Reid want anything to do with that again? _________________

why would we give up the guy with big potential and a rookie deal to take on an over the hill washed up guy who can't hack it anymore, especially when we don't need the immediate help
and Bigs, he's not gonna be effective at S, he's terrible in zones, always has been his weakness. I'd only go after him if Smith/Cooper go down and we want him to play press M2M 100% of the time. _________________

There's no doubt he's a not zone boundary corner. He doesn't have the speed to do that anymore. I disagree though that he's always been terrible at it. He was never asked to do it in Oakland. By the time he got to the Eagles, he was older, and maybe even a little cocky in thinking he didn't need to learn anything new. And lets not pretend the safety's backing him up in Philly weren't terrible, which can make a CB look bad at times, See Mike Brown, Sabby Piscatelli, Jon McGraw et al. DRC was pretty terrible in Philly too, but he's now doing fairly well in Denver.
And as for speed not being as much of an issue at safety, I would have thought it was common knowledge speed was more important at CB than safety. There's a reason why when a guy runs a subpar 40 time that they want to suggest safety, and honestly vice versa. David Amerson was surely going to be a safety in the NFL prior tot he combine, he runs a fast 40 and all of a sudden he's a CB again. Mr. Asomugha himself was a safety in college turned CB in part due to his 4.45 speed.
Does speed help, surely, but you can be more than good with just average speed, IF your instincts are high. Scrabble is a very smart dude. While he didn't do well in zone at CB, there's a chance a center fielder type of position might serve him better.
You are probably correct, he most likely wouldn't do well as a safety, but playing zone CB is very different than safety in a zone. _________________

I thought we wanted to be rid of Lewis because of his lack of speed _________________
