Beast. 6 sacks is great for a DT in one season and he did it in half of a season. Why he isn't getting talked about more is a joke. All I hear is McCoy. Suh, Fairley, Dareus, Poe, etc.

I agree he has been very solid for the Titans becoming a force on the line. Here is what was said about him on NFL.com. Just read the article on there about Week 9 lessons:

Quote:
3. Titans defensive tackle Jurrell Casey continues his push for a Pro Bowl berth, recording a pair of sacks including a forced fumble that led to Johnson's decisive touchdown in the fourth quarter. With Geno Atkins out for the season, Casey arguably is the NFL's finest three-technique tackle.

Could not agree more.

At the beginning of the year, Casey put forth a goal of breaking Millard's record for sacks by a DT in a season. That I think was 18. He is off pace, but doing much better than many people thought.

What I love most about Casey is he NEVER quits on a play. When he had to drop back and cover Cook, as awful as that was, he actually ran Cook down and made the tackle. When Zac Stacy broke all those tackles and broke in to the secondary? Casey ran him down. He'll chase after any QB, he'll try and run down receivers who catch short/intermediate passes, etc. It's incredible at his size how much effort he puts in to a game. This man was a very good player last year with just his run stuffing abilities, but he's developed in to one of those game changing defensive linemen ala a Geno Atkins.

He's made me proud for drafting him in AaT. Cool

This, this, a million times this! Love seeing it from the big guy. If somebody his size can go like hell the entire time, no reason the others can't as well.

The reason the defense was so soft is what I figured/posted here:

Quote:
(on George Wilson starting in place of an injured Michael Griffin)

I think George (Wilson) did fine. Part of the thing was we played a little softer, we played a little deeper, so we didn’t get things over the top when we were making the different changes out there. I think we were just being a little smart there for this game with him playing a new position that he hadn’t played. But, George plays well. George is a smart football player, and he’s a big part of this team on special teams and on defense. He did fine. With Griff (Michael

Griffin), there’s a good chance he’ll be practicing all week, and I would assume he’d play next week.

Honestly though, that just isn't a good enough excuse. We're playing Kellen Clemens. They're not taking deep shots with Kellen freaking Clemens.

It's funny because the knock on him as a prospect was his motor ran hot and cold and he tended to give up.

The knock on Zach Brown was that he was "allergic to contact."

These draftniks really missed the boat, didn't they? Laughing

Or maybe they were right about their college assessment, but the players have adjusted/improved their game.

One of the major things about some of these blue chip prospects that fall a little is that they're able to get away with things at the college level, based on their athleticism. Brown could run around blocks instead of taking them on, so he did. At this level, he's had to adjust, and has become a more complete player. In Casey's case, maybe a light switched.

Doesn't necessarily mean the draftniks were wrong in their college assessment though...

Casey is going be a major part of the gameplan to make fivehead have happy feet in a few weeks. I have confidence that Ropati & Morgan can keep him in the pocket. As we all know from facing him for 13 years in the division, the key is to get pressure on fivehead up the middle quick because he will not hold the ball long enough for a blitz or the DEs to get to him and Casey can do that. Heres to hoping he can stay healthy and playing at this level.
