So this is completely unrelated to the game but there was no way I was going to start a new thread.

On the Dan Lebatard show on ESPN they said that Geno Atkins' team mates call him Debo. Hmmmm sounds familiar.

Without BIG Vince in the middle, the Pats are 31st in the league in rushing yards allowed, HOWEVER they arent quite as bad against the run as that makes it seem. Still, if we cannot establish some semblance of a running game against them, we arent going to fair very well. This will help with number 3 by setting up play action and negating the blitzes they like to send.

Losing Wilfork is a big blow for them. I have no idea who will be able to suit up on the OL for the Steelers. If they can get some decent blocking Bell could have a real nice day.

Don't worry 43, Haley will establish the run game in the 4th Qtr when we are 2+ scores down! Evil or Very Mad

It is an important game if we have any chance at a Wild Card at all, not because it gives us 6 losses if we lose but because at the moment we are tied with the majority of the conference vying for the last WC spot with 3 losses vs AFC.

From Advanced NFL Stats

Quote:
First, fifth, second, second, fourth and 31st. Those are the league rankings of the Patriots’ net passing efficiency with Tom Brady at the helm since New England’s record-breaking 2007 season. The Patriots currently rank second to last in the most important and most consistent of all facets of team performance.

Only the Buccaneers trail the Patriots in this category. Personnel turnover, injuries and poor play have taken their toll on one of the most reliably effective offenses in recent memory.

Despite their challenges, the Patriots defy the numbers with a winning record of 6-2, leading the A.F.C. East by two games. They host the Steelers this week, who are struggling in last place in the A.F.C. North at 2-5.

Pittsburgh’s defense ranks 26th in the league in yards allowed per play, and its offense is struggling to run the ball.

The Steelers rank 29th in the league in running Success Rate — the proportion of running plays that result in an improved scoring potential. Only the Giants, the Jaguars and the Ravens rank behind the Steelers in running success.

Based on all key facets of team performance, the Patriots have the edge in this one, but not by much.

from DVOA, pats D and ST are way beyond ours, while we actually pass better than they do for once (although they run it more successfully than we do)

this is going to be a long day to watch....

The running games could win this game despite these elite qb's. NE run D is 31st and the steelers isn't much better . Woodley might have a good game against back up RT, lets hope that goes well.

I have no faith in our CB's as long as brady has time which he will unless woodley takes over. The only hope is that brady is throwing to a wallace type player that can't catch or at least drops important passes Laughing This has been the case with the pats this year

It would be nice to beat NE in their stadium, but I don't see them completely failing. If Taylor actually plays well for us, as does Allen and Gay, then maybe there is a chance. The worst part would be getting off to a bad start and then making Haley/ben abandon the running game.

I don't know what to make of this game, both teams are uncharacteristic and it might be a sloppy game with a few more OL injuries to the steelers Rolling Eyes Shocked

The local paper (D.C.) predicted neither Big Ben nor Brady would throw a TD this game.

Minus the turnovers Ben is putting up better numbers than Brady.

100 more yards passing... 1 more completion with 47 less passes thrown.

But some want to trade him! Hahahaha.

Really? Both teams have not so great defenses. And Brady owns the Steelers. I think this is the game that gets him back on track sadly. This team is just too bad this year. Not to mention that Tomlin will once again get out coached and Haley being OC doesn't help.

Steelers 27
Pats 19

Both teams will try to establish the run and the teams who runs it better will win. I see us getting off to a fast start and the Pats climb back in it with less than 5 minutes to go.
