STATEMENT FROM THOMAS (TOMMY) SMITH ON BEHALF OF THE ADAMS FAMILIES

Quote:
We want to thank all of the friends, family and fans who have reached out to us over the past week to give their condolences and share their stories. It has been a difficult week for all of us and those conversations and letters have kept us going.

As for the Titans organization, we are moving forward with the same goals and a similar structure. As a family, we have agreed that I will be President and CEO of the Titans; and additionally Susie Adams Smith and Amy Adams Hunt will serve as Co-Chairpersons and Kenneth Adams IV will join the Titans board as a Director.

As an organization, we started the year with a plan and we will continue to work towards the goals we have laid out, including a winning season, the playoffs and ultimately building a consistent winner. Through the years, our families and I have been consistently updated on all aspects of the organization from football operations to the business side from those who run those areas and we will continue those interactions on a daily basis. We will be taking all the necessary steps, in concert with the league office, to remain in compliance with league rules in our ownership structure. That process will not be immediate, but it has begun. Until we gain that approval, we will stay out of the spotlight, but know that we are directing the organization and staying informed of daily activities. The continuity and knowledge I have gained in decades of being involved with the team will aid our organization during this transition.

We want our fans to know that we have the best interest of the franchise in mind and we share both Buds passion for the game and his commitment to the city of Nashville and the Mid-South Region. We are excited for what lies ahead for this franchise and our fans.

Well, there we have it. The Titans are staying in the family.

I'm guessing he's the um... large one.

That's what I'm saying, he doesn't look like a football guy, but he might be smart and add the right coaching staff and players to run this team.

I think we should give him a chance before stereotyping his looks.

Does Robert Kraft strike you as a "football guy" at first glance? Rolling Eyes

He is the large guy with the gray hair. He was involved with the move of the team from Houston to Nashville and Bud wanted him to move to Nashville and run the team back then. He refused to do so and according to reports Bud and Tommy had a falling out at some point over some issue. I don't know if he is a "football guy" or not but he was smart enough to marry a billionarie's daughter. Shocked Wink

I was hoping Kenneth Adams IV would be more involved, but I guess he will have to wait his turn. He is the only one that has been in Nashville consistantly over the past 6 years. Tommy & the daughters will continue to run the team from Houston I would assume. I hope he doesn't have any "red flags" when the league conducts their investigation like our homeboy Mr. Pilot Flying J up in Cleveland.

No. He doesn't

AND?

I was just saying he doesn't look like a football guy. Don't mean he won't hire the right people who are.....

Just saying....first impression....that's without hearing him speak or talk about anything other than a released statement.

He can be a Nature guy for all it matters....I just want him to care about the team and not be a owner like the Bidwell's of Arizona or something like that..

Him not looking like a football guy at first glance just means he might not be like Jerry Jones.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

We should apply as a joint committee.

I can see Jim Wyatt's tweet now.

"So.. the Tennessee Titans forum members on FF are now the owners of the Tennessee Titans. Lord help us."

Then of course Rotoworld would bash us and we would have to take them out. Twisted Evil

That would be ideal... Jerry Jones sticks his head into the football side of things opposed to the business side a little to much. Well did in recent history. Not sure how much now.

Yeah. true.
Hearing reports now, I hear he has been involved quite some time now. I guess I should clarify. He doesn't "look" like someone that would have his hand in FA moves, demand to draft someone...etc...

That's a good thing.

If he is just a business man and not a "hardcore football guy" that will suit me fine as long as he stays true to the team and don't be an person who is just looking at the bottom line, not trying to win games.

Jerry is the owner and GM of the Cowboys. So he doesn't just but in to their operations...he controls all of it.
