Don't forget Shaun Phillips. The trio would rival Seattle's DL/pass-rush depth and in fact be more talented overall.

I did forget about Shaun Phillips.

If we were ever really in for him. For me the compensation/salary is just too high for a player of his age, when the Broncos are looking at players like Decker, Woodyard, DRC, Beadles, Walton, Phillips etc hitting the market next year.

DT is the only of those players I would be upset about leaving. All others are replaceable.

They're replaceable on an individual level, but that many guys at once is always difficult to reconcile.

If Denver is out, I say good move. While I hate the thought of Allen in a Broncos uniform, the gain seems minimal. He's not the player that he was, age is starting to get to him (for reference, Allen is in his 10th year, and to name a few names, Strahan, Freeney, Abraham, Jason Taylor, etc., all started trailing off in around their 9th-12th seasons.) As much as Denver wants to win now, they have to think post-Peyton and think of when all these emerging players will need to be paid (many of them soon.)

Woodyard brings more to the table. Look what happened to this defense when he went down, then came back last week.

Allen's not going to be going anywhere, I'll the teams that would want him don't have enough cap and there isn't enough time to negotiate.

A lot of questionable reports on this... The truth is the Seahawks OL coach/guru, Tom Cable, sees a lot of potential in Allen and believes he can convert him to a left guard.

So happy this didn't happen. Makes no sense to give up a high pick on an aging DE when DE is one of your biggest strengths. TRADE FOR AN OT JOHN!!!!

On the one hand, I think Jared Allen is worth a second, even at his age. However, I can't think of one team that is in the playoff hunt that is a 4-3 team that needs a DE, can afford him, and isn't in the NFC North.

So I can see why he wasn't traded.

The Pats fit that description for the most part. The problem was, they already have an excellent RE in Chandler Jones, and I'm not sure flipping either Jones or Allen to the left side would've worked out all that well.

Guess they didn't get him but I mean had they got Allen that would have made them that much better. Can you imagine Allen on that already vaunted defense?

I don't even know if he would fit other than as a nickel pass rusher. He can't play Leo or slb in base.

In my defense, that was my actual reaction. Turning into a little blonde girl and all.

[scrubs furiously]

Which, when you consider who Tzi is (if you've read the "Getting to know you" interview of him in General), makes it even more hilarious.
